In about one month, gaming enthusiasts will finally be able to get their hands on theXbox Series X. The next-gen system has been teased for the better part of several years, and after all that waiting consumers will finally be able to experience theXbox Series Xfor themselves. However, one lucky individual has not only received a retail unit, but has made an unboxing video for it.
It wasn’t until the tail end of 2019 that the Xbox Series X was officially unveiled, and subsequent details regarding the console began to surface, including its release date, technical specs, andthe official box art. While the console is not commercially available yet, consumers now have a decent idea of what to expect when they first purchase it.

Tom Warren, Senior Editor at The Verge, shared a video on Twitter of a man unboxing an Xbox Series X. The video has since been made private on YouTube, likely at the request ofMicrosoft, but Warren also provided a gif of the unboxing itself, showing how it is different from any other video game console box.
The first noticeable distinction is how the box itself is structured. Based on what is seen in the gif, there does not seem to be any kind of additional space for a power cable orHDMI cable, though they should be packed away somewhere given that the console can’t run otherwise. Another interesting thing is that the console is wrapped in some kind of protective paper. Other consoles may have done something like this in the past, but it’s curious that the Xbox Series X is wrapped in something like this.
In any case, this gives plenty of people a quick tease with regards to opening the next-gen console up for the first time. While it isn’t the first time anXbox Series X retail boxhas been spotted, it may be the first time anyone has unboxed one live. However, this clip doesn’t give consumers the full picture in terms of what to expect.
With the video no longer available, and with the quality of the gif somewhat grainy, this leaves fans with only a taste of what’s to come. Another interesting note is that while this man now owns the console itself, it seems unlikely he will be able to play anything new consideringlaunch titles for the Xbox Series Xhave yet to be released.
