Each new phase forWorld of Warcraft Classic:Season of Discoverybringsnew Runes for every class, including a variety of new Hunter Runes forSoD Phase 4. In addition to new P4 Hunter Runes for the Cloak slot, there are a variety of Hunter Ring Runes to choose from which grant a variety of skill bonuses, intended to level the playing field at max level.
Though there are lots of new Hunter Runes that complement those introduced inPhase 1 and Phase 2, andin Phase 3, some of these older Runes may have been removed and replaced, or changed entirely. This guide details what the new Hunter Cloak Runes and Hunter Ring Runes do in SoD P4, and explains what (if any) Runes were removed and replaced with new options.
Updated June 26, 2025 by Erik Petrovich: There are three new SoD P4 Hunter Cloak Runes, and several new Phase 4 Hunter Ring Runes, that players can collect in the latest phase for Season of Discovery. After a particularly productive weekend after the release of SoD Phase 4, Hunter Runes locations have all been discovered. This guide has been updated to include detailed instructions to find all new Hunter Runes Phase 4 introduced, including specific coordinates to help you hone in on the exact location of every new Hunter Rune SoD P4 players can get.
Hit and Run Effects
How To Get Hit and Run Rune: The SoD Hit and Run Rune location is in the Burning Steppes. Throughout the central horizontal strip of the zone, an Escaped Core Hound can spawn. You must find and defeat the Escaped Core Hound to get this Rune. It’s not a bad idea to put together a small group of other Hunters to make it easier to find this rare enemy, as you will all be able to pick up the rune if defeated.
Improved Volley Effects
How To Get Improved Volley Rune: The SoD Improved Volley Rune location is in Silithus. Defeat any mob in the zone to get the Busted Gizmo. Go to Bronzebeard’s Encampment in the deep southwest of the zone and speak with Edwi Copperbolt. Then, using the Desert Sonar, wander Silithus until you see the ground rumbling beneath your feet. Use the Desert Sonar item to summon a Sandworm, then defeat it to get this Rune.
Resourcefulness Effects
How To Get Resourcefulness Rune: The SoD Resourcefulness Rune location is in the Eastern Plaguelands. Go to Terrordale and kill Plagued Swine enemies to get the Tainted Boar Meat item. Then, head to Corrin’s Corssing and defeat Slime enemies until you get the Bubbling Green Ichor item. Combine the two items to get the Rancid Hunk of Flesh. Finally, head to the southern Eastern Plaguelands and find any Carrion Grub enemy. Use the Rancid Hunk of Flesh on a Carrion Grub to make it throw up a Regurgitated Skeleton, which contains this Rune.
New Hunter Ring Runes In P4
All Hunter Ring Runes follow the same unlock method – find specific books somewhere in the world, and you will unlock Ring Runes that your Skill for particular class weapons and spell specializations. At Max Level, against elite higher-than-60 mobs, having a +5 to your weapon or spell skills makes it significantly less likely that you will miss attacks and casts.
Thesenew Runes give every classthe ability to boost two of their Weapon Skills, Spell Specializations, or Defense Skills by a small, but not insignificant, amount. These effects do not stack with each other, and they do not stack with existing Racial bonuses, so you’re able to’t specialize twice in the same weapon or spell category. When it comes to new Hunter Ring Runes,WoW SoDplayers have nine choices.
How To Get Arcane Specialization Rune: To find the Arcane Specialization Rune location, head to the Western Plaguelands to Hearthglen in the far north. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (46, 16).
How To Get Frost Specialization Rune: To find the Frost Specialization Rune location, go to Winterspring and head south until you find the Owlbeast camp (the one east of the path, opposite the three caves in a gorge on the world map). This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (59, 59).
How To Get Nature Specialization Rune: To find the Nature Specialization Rune location, go to Felwood to Felpaw Village and look for this SoD Ring Rune in the cave that connects to Winterspring. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (62.5, 7.5).
How To Get Axe Specialization Rune: To find the Axe Specialization Rune location, go to the southwest of the Blackrock Stronghold in the southwest Burning Steppes. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (40, 34).
How To Get Dagger Specialization Rune: To find the Dagger Specialization Rune location, head to the far southwest of Silithus to the Burning Blade camp and look for this Red Book in one of the first tents. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (20.5, 19.5).
How To Get Fist Weapon Rune: To find the Fist Weapon Specialization Rune location, head to Silithus almost directly between Hive’zora and Cenarion Hold (on the world map, there is a building icon near the spot). This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (37, 44.5).
How To Get Pole Weapon Rune: To find the Pole Weapon Specialization Rune location, head to the Temple or Arkkoran in Azshara and look for this Rune Specialization book on top of an altar. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (78, 38).
How To Get Ranged Weapon Specialization Rune: To find the Ranged Weapon Specialization Rune location, go to the Marris Stead in the southwest Eastern Plaguelands, just north of the road that leads to Light’s Hope Chapel from the Western Plaguelands. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (26, 73.5).
How To Get Sword Specialization Rune: To find the Sword Specialization Rune location, go to Deadwind Pass to Karazhan and look for a cave near the Master’s Cellar. This SoD Ring Rune book is located around the coordinates (43, 74.5) inside this cave.
