Watch Dogs: Legionis the latest in Ubisoft’s action-adventure, hacking game series, and in spite of past delays, will be arriving later this October to current and next-generation platforms.Legionis slated to be one of the big releasesthis month, but recent news on the DLC content might make it better or worse for some fans.
Earlier this year, it was revealed thatLegionhas a playableAssassin’s Creedcharacter, leading to much fan speculation on what it entails for both franchises going forward. The character in question was Sandra Cassidy, a descendant of Jacob Frye, one of two protagonists fromAssassin’s Creed: Syndicate. Now it’s revealed that playable DLC character Darcey is tied toAssassin’s Creed. Players speculated that Ubisoft planned to join the two franchises together in a wider shared universe. However, more information from the developer has shed some light on the matter, revealing it to be pure fan-service forWatch Dogs: Legion.

The game’s post-launch roadmap was revealed to include Darcey among otherWatch Dogsreturning characters like Aiden Pearce. Soon after,Watch Dogs: Legion’slive producer, Lathiesshe Thillainathan, spoke on the matter with IGN. Thillainathan confirms that the crossover is very real, but it is only fan-service between the game franchises and nothing more. He states that there’s currently no plans to merge the two game franchises in the foreseeable future. Thillainathan would go on to clarify about Darcey and the crossover saying, “She’s not canon, it’s purely a fan-service from our side and also theAssassin’s Creedside.”
He acknowledges the fan speculation but makes it clear that the crossover is a fun collaboration between both developers. Similarly to when players foundFinal Fantasy 15Easter eggs inAssassin’s Creed: Origins, which was followed by speculation only to turn out to be fun fan-service between franchises, too. Thilliainathan confirms that Darcey is part of the Assassin order with gameplay thatAssassin’s Creedplayers will recognize. She’ll even have her own backstory weaved intoAssassin Creedlore with some Easter eggs hinting to the franchise, but that’s where it stops.
Thillainathan continued to talk about the DLC content to be added toLegionafter it launches, commenting on what’s will come as part of the post-launch roadmap. He mentions Ubisoft intends to roll out content forWatch Dogs: LegionOnlineafter the game’s release and create more content for it based on player response to initial online activities like Spiderbot PvP, and Invasion. IGN would go on to ask if Marcus Holloway, the protagonist fromWatch Dogs 2, would also be playable since his fellow hackerWrench is a playable character inLegion, too. He only teased that more information will come later on that, leaving fans something to keep an eye on.
