These fire-breathing monsters are both impressive and terrifying to behold, with the vast majority of them being valuable creatures that players need to protect. In contrast, others end up being vile antagonists who end up doing justice to this villainous role. There’s a reason why so many people find dragons to be an instant draw no matter where they’re included.

That being said, not all dragons get the popularity they deserve in gaming, which is a shame. While it can be challenging to portray dragons in a manner befitting their hefty stature, the following creatures definitely did a great job of elevating the titles they were included in, even if they aren’t as popular assome other dragons in the realm of video games.

One of the more interesting figures that Geralt interacts with in this game is Saskia the Dragonslayer, whose true identity turns out to be something completely different. It turns out that she is a dragon herself, culminating in a pretty memorable boss fight that makes full use ofThe Witcher 2’s combat mechanics.
7Void Dragon – Divinity: Original Sin
Given how many people loveDivinity: Original Sin 2, it’s a shame that the first game doesn’t get as much credit. While its features and mechanics might be improved in the sequel, the first game still has many great things that players can enjoy regardless.
The final fight in this game is quite memorable, withplayers facing off against an intimidating Void Dragonin an encounter that was being built up from the very start of the game. It’s a tough and engaging battle where a single misstep can lead to a crushing defeat, making it a fitting final fight for a great CRPG.
6Gregori – Dragon’s Dogma
Dragon’s Dogmais a title that more people need to check out. The combat system and open-world exploration are a ton of fun, even if the world itself might be slightly drab and boring at times.

Thecrowning achievement ofDragon’s Dogmais its battles against the many massive monstrosities in this title, with the final fight being a perfect example of this. The battle against Gregori was building up from the very first moment of the game, and hacking away at this massive boss after hours of playtime makes for a perfect conclusion to a great underrated action RPG.
5The Draic Kin – The Longest Journey
The Longest Journeyis a great point-and-click game filled to the brim with this genre’s oddities and strengths. Players control April Ryan in a title that spawned a trilogy that many people aren’t aware of.
The game deals with several high fantasy concepts, including that ofshapeshifting dragons called Draic Kin. They play a critical role in the story, with Cortez being a memorable character who reveals himself to be a Draic Kin as well in the final moments of the game.
4Lord Of Lightning – Super Mario Odyssey
Super Mario Odysseyis a game that is lauded by many, so some may be perplexed to hear that people didn’t like the mix of realistic and cartoonish character designs in the game. Such is the case duringthe memorable boss fight against the Ruined Dragon, also known as the Lord of Lightning.
This realistic dragon looks pretty imposing when compared to Mario, but the plumber doesn’t waste any time in showing this beast who’s boss. It’s easily one of the best boss fights in the game, so it’s a shame that most people don’t even know the name of this imposing dragon.
3Tiamat – Final Fantasy
When people talk aboutdragons inFinal Fantasy, the first name that comes to mind is Bahamut. While this is understandable, there are certain other dragons in the game that don’t get the credit they deserve since Bahamut pretty much steals all their thunder.

Another iconic dragon in the series that many people have forgotten about is Tiamat. Initially appearing as one of the Four Fiends, Tiamat has appeared in the majority ofFinal Fantasygames and always leaves a lasting impression by showcasing his immense strength.
2Sinh, The Slumbering Dragon – Dark Souls 2
TheDark Soulstrilogy is one of the best action RPGs of all time, but a lot of praise is given to the first and third games in the series. This doesn’t mean the second game is bad by any stretch of the imagination — in fact, there are several boss fights in this game worth experiencing.
The final boss of theCrown of the Sunken KingDLC is Sinh, the Slumbering Dragon, which is a pretty challenging and fun battle. His attacks inflict Toxic and can be annoying to deal with, so players should either come stacked with the proper resistances or just avoid most of his attacks and take a breather if the buildup is getting too much to handle.
1Flemeth – Dragon Age
It’s only a given for a game likeDragon Ageto be absolutely loaded with these mythical creatures. However, while many people love the High Dragons in the third game for their impressive scale and design, a lot of people don’t really recognize one of the more interesting dragons who appears in both the first and second games.
The Witch of the Wilds is also Morrigan’s mother, making her a pretty engaging character indeed. Her transformation into a High Dragon is a great moment and serves as one of the more memorable boss fights in the game.
