With Twitch growing exponentially over the last few years, it’s unsurprising that the streaming giant has had to crack down on policing its content. With major names on the platform likeDaniel “Dubs” Walshand xQc seeing bans for inappropriate behavior, it’s clear Twitch isn’t afraid to deal out punishments in an effort to create a friendlier experience for visitors on the site. Unfortunately, it seems the streaming mainstay was forced to bring down the hammer yet again yesterday, when a streamer shot a firearm while broadcasting live.

The streamer in question is none other than SoaR Carl, who, after jokingly waving around a handgun live on air, accidentally fired a bullet into his monitor. The streamer has been dealt an indefinitesuspension by Twitchand has also been dropped from his team SoaR gaming.

For those who haven’t seen the live mishap, the streamer, while making a joke threat to his viewers, pulled out a handgun claiming “say I ain’t got money.” He then goes to unload the weapon before accidentally pulling the trigger and sending a bullet through a nearby metal cup and into his incrediblyexpensive monitor. While the dangerous mishap was evidently an accident, SoaR Carl has admitted he was intoxicated at the time, which makes his nonchalant handling of the firearm all the more irresponsible.

Since the incident, Carl has gone on to release a statement onYouTube, taking full responsibility for his mistake and issuing an apology to his fans. “Whether I was sober or intoxicated, guns are not a toy,” the streamer states, continuing, “even if I had the gun for two years, you could still do something stupid like that.” He later issues an apology to his fanbase, claiming, “all I can say is that I’m sorry and I deserve everything,” before thanking his former teammates on SoaR gaming for being an amazing team.

It’s good to seeTwitchbeing fairly active when it comes to regulating what is acceptable on the site, especially as mishaps like SoaR Carl’s might go unnoticed on other streaming platforms. While the creator’s actions were no doubt an accident, it’s clear that Carl is aware that using an incredibly dangerous weapon live on stream while intoxicated sets a terrible example to his viewers. Hopefully, if the streamer is allowed to return to the site, he can find a way to come back from this irresponsible accident.
