This article contains spoilers for Tokyo Revengers, Tokyo Revenger Christmas Showdown and the Tokyo Revengers Manga.Tokyo Revengers Christmas Showdownis here and this time Takemichi has a new enemy to defeat, another powerful gang that will shape the future, the Black Dragon. They were briefly mentioned in the past as the gang that was ruling in the area Kazutora lived, which was mainly the reasonwhy the Tokyo Manji started, to create their own gang and one day be at the same level of Black Dragon. But, as the founders wished, the ToMan needed to retrieve the old fashionable style of the local bands with different ideas and manners.
The second season ofTokyo Revengersdebuted on the first weekend of January. The Black Dragon are the centerpiece of this season, asTakemichi tries to modify the presentone again, this time by defeating the gang responsible for Mikey’s dark turn. What he doesn’t know yet is how closely related everyone is with this gang and how difficult it’s going to be to lay a finger on them. Not by accidentChristmas Showdownis considered one of the best arcs in the series by the fans.

Formation
The founder of the Black Dragon was none other thanShinichiro Sano, Mikey’s brother. The 1st Generation of Black Dragon was formed by him, Takeomi Akashi, Keizo Arashi, and Wakasa Imaushi. The foundational idea of this gang rested on the love for motorbikes and old-fashioned motorcycle gangs. The ideals were also based on trust and loyalty, more of a space for a group of friends to share their passions than anything else. That’s what Shinichiro wanted, and it quickly became popular, being the dominant gang in the Kanto region for generations. They followed a simple structure of a leader and a vice-leader (this was later removed) with two captains of the Guard and the Special Attack units that also served as the leader’s counselors and direct subordinates.
The Black Dragon official logo consists of a “B” and a “D” above a dragon-like pattern. Those are the initials of the Japanese original name in romaji,Burakku Doragon. Their uniform is basically a black biker outfit similar to the ToMan. It was remodeled later, the 9th Generation wore a white version andthe 10th Generation changed itto a military design to evoke fear on their enemies. The infamous 10th Generation also added a red armband that said “Murder Squad”. The leader, Taiju, wears a red coat.
During Shinichiro’s youth the Black Dragon kept his values, but eventually he stepped down as the leader of the gang to open his own bike shop. He was still widely respected, and his shop often served as place of reunion for all kinds of gangs. The reason why he was such an important figure in the criminal world was not because his fighting skills or scary presence.When Mikey said Takemichi was like his brotherhe meant it.
His humble and loving personality combined with his great charisma was his defining trait, despite being a weak fighter. His view of the world endured for generations of the Black Dragon, even after he left the leadership role. However, it al went downhill and the gang became a violent and aggressive group of criminals that ruled by force. After his tragic death, this did nothing but worsen.
The 8th Generation and the Situation of Black Dragon
The change was propelled by the successor of Shinichiro, Izana Kurokawa of the 8th Generation of Black Dragon. He was the adoptive brother Shinichiro, and he looked up to him. However, he had great resentment for Mikey and a completely different personality. He changed the culture within the gang and removed all the 1st Generation values. The 9th Generation followed Izana’s plan and turned even more ruthless but some of the original values still remained.
At the pointManjiro and the others created the Tokyo Manjigang, they had already clashed with the 9th Generation in an effort to protect Kazutora. It was to be able to defeat this generation of Black Dragon that the ToMan started. The leader of Black Dragon’s 9th Generation was Shion Madarame. The ToMan got into multiple small fights with this generation. It was also around this time Shinichiro died attacked by Kazutora in a massive mistake committed just for a birthday gift. Izana and Shion both left the Black Dragon for other organization, what opened the door to the 10th Generation, the most violent thus far and the one Takemichi is going to have to deal with inChristmas Showdown.
The leader of the 10th Generation of Black Dragon is Taiju Shiba, older brother of Hakkai Shiba who was shown as one of the top representatives of Black Dragon at the end of Season 1. However, Hakkai is the vice-captain of the 2nd Division of the ToManat the time his brother commands the Black Dragon, although Taiju is doing everything in his power to force him to join them. The 10th Generation also has other notorious members that where shown as leaders in the present, Hajime Kokonoi, the Elite Guard captain and Seishu Inui the Attack Squad Captain.
The objective of Black Dragon’s 10th Generation is clear, expand territory by force with multiple turf disputes and wipe out the Tokyo Manji from existence. For what will happen after the ultimate clash between them, fans will have to wait for theTokyo Revengers Christmas Showdownanime to catch up, currently in emission, available on Hulu in the US and on Disney+ in almost everywhere else. Of course the other option is to read the manga to discover what happens in the fight between the ToManand the 10th Generation of the Black Dragon.
