With only two weeks left beforeThe Last of Us Part 2’s release, Naughty Dog and Sony have aired a new tv spot commercial. As most would expect, this teaser is pretty somber and melancholy, highlighting the game’s revenge and survival-based themes like previousThe Last of Ustrailers.

The tv spot aired on ESPN yesterday. It’s only thirty seconds long, and being a cinematic trailer, doesn’t show any gameplay footage. Still, it does do a good job conveying what potential buyers can expect out of the game, and Sony and Naughty Dog might have an extended version to release closer toThe Last of Us Part 2’s launch.

The teaser itself sees Ellie struggling with her emotions and thevarious enemies thatThe Last of Us Part 2will throw at her. While running from one group of enemies, she runs into another made up of Clickers; she later finds herself in a one-on-one battle with a WLF member, which ends with her getting thrown like a rag doll. Her last fight sees her preparing to fire into a crowd of Seraphites.

All of this footage cuts between scenes of Ellie visualizing her girlfriend and playing thematically correct music on her guitar. The song she’s singing is called “True Faith” by Lotte Kesner, and fans can currently find it on Apple Music. The Apple site will also be wherethe officialThe Last of UsPodcastwill premiere in a few days.

While the trailer doesn’t show anyThe Last of Us 2gameplay, it does give a good idea of it. The way Ellie moves in the one-on-one fight of the teaser is accurate to how she’ll handle in the actual game. Her small and lean physic allows her to move quickly in and out of combat and score multiple hits, but it’s still better for her to be at a range when dealing with bigger opponents.

While it’s not something most viewers will notice with a surface-level watch, the teaser also gives players a decent look atThe Last of Us Part 2’s Seattle setting. Neil Drunkmann, the director of the game, commented recently about how the city’s dark places, like the corridors seen in the teaser, will be used to throw surprise enemies at players. The way Ellie runs headlong into a group of Clickers is a good example of this.

The Last of Us Part 2launches for the PlayStation 4 on Jun 02, 2025.
