The official website of the popular series“That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime”reveals the key visual and a new concept art for their new Original Video Animation (OVA), featuring the main characters and a landscape image. This three-episode OVA is calledDream of Coleus, and it is scheduled to be released in Fall 2023.
This OVA was first announced right after the end of this series’ latest feature film,That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime: Scarlet Bond, that was released in the USA back in January 2023.Dream of Coleusis actually a part of a project that commemorates the 10th anniversary of the publication of Fuse’s original light novel ofThat Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slime.The other parts of the projects include an original short story that is set between the ninth and the tenth light novels, an in-person fans meeting, and a stage play, among other things.

Similar to the other anime adaptation, this OVA is also written by Fuse, the original author of the series. The story ofDream of Coleusitself happens between the first and second season of the TV anime. And as the name suggests, the story will take place in the desert-like Kingdom of Coleus. This time around, the story will revolve around spies, politics, and a conflict to claim the thrones of Coleus.
According to the official website,Rimuru will take on a secret missionfrom the Grand Master of the Free Guild to investigate the suspicious internal conflict within the Kingdom of Coleus, a small kingdom that sits between the Kingdom of Ingrassia and the Holy Empire of Ruberius. So Rimuru brings some of his friends/generals to visit the Kingdom of Coleus, disguised themselves as regular people, and basically becomes spies. It doesn’t take a long time for them to uncover a much greater secret than a simple internal conflict.
With the original light novels receiving more than 40 millions copies in sale, and the latest feature film topping the Japanese Box Office,That Time I Got Reincarnated As A Slimeis without a doubt one of the most successful Isekai series in the world. So this new OVA is clearly a treat to the fans that simply want to see more of Rimuru the Slime as they wait for the next season of the anime series, which willlikely happen some time in 2024.
