Summary

Capcom has revealed the release date of its new psycho-powered fighter Ed, coming toStreet Fighter 6on February 27. Since its launch last summer,Street Fighter 6fans have already seen two new fighters join its roster in Rashid and A.K.I. After Ed makes his arrival later this month, franchise legend Akuma is set to join the roster as well, rounding outStreet Fighter 6’s first wave of post-launch fighters.

Ed may seem familiar to fans who’ve playedStreet Fighter 5,as he made his franchise debut in the game as a post-launch DLC fighter. Part of the insidious Shadaloo organization under figures like M Bison andStreet Fighter 6’s JP, Ed is able to utilize purple Psycho powers in his moveset. These were first showcased several weeks ago when Capcom dropped Ed’s cinematic reveal trailer, which showed him fighting on Metro City’s subway where he used Psycho powers to grab and sling an adversary to the ground.

That reveal trailer gave Ed a February release window and now Capcom has revealed his actual release date, February 27. The psycho-powered boxer’sarrival inStreet Fighter 6will be preceded by a small “Ed Arrives” Fighter Pass. As fans await Ed, they’ll be able to use this pass to unlock a handful of Ed-themed rewards, such as a set of gear for players' avatars, including a full green boxing outfit. Also available in the Fighter Pass is an Ed photo frame, emote, music, stickers, titles, and a “Neo Shadaloo” in-game phone wallpaper.

One of the more exciting Fighter Pass unlocks for longtime Capcom fans is the addition of the 1991 sidescrollerCaptain Commando, which players can earn and then play inStreet Fighter 6’s online Battle Hubarea. This won’t be the only change coming to the Battle Hub, though. Ed will arrive two days after Capcom Cup X, which starts on February 16 and ends on February 25. The esports event will decorate the Battle Hub by dimming the lights and giving the online space an orange glow. Judging by the trailer, Capcom Cup decor will temporarily permeateStreet Fighter 6’s Macho Ring stage as well.
