Capcom isn’t trying to reinvent the wheel with its upcoming fighting game,Street Fighter 6. But it is trying to improve and enhance theStreet Fighterexperience in interesting, incremental ways. Several new features have already been confirmed that helpStreet Fighter 6’s characters stand out during gameplay in unique ways. Yet another such feature has now been discovered during Japan Expo 2022. EachStreet Fighter 6character will have a unique celebration animation upon completing a Perfect round.Accomplishing a Perfect round inStreet Fighterhas always been something worth celebrating. But that’s never been something that happens in-game, beyond a “Perfect” message being displayed on-screen or a marker denoted in a player’s won rounds. InStreet Fighter 6that will be changing.Street Fighter 6characterswill have their own unique character animations that play after they execute a Perfect round. The animations will, of course, suit the character’s personality and be fittingly celebratory.RELATED:Street Fighter 6 Director Talks About World Tour Mode, Makes Comparisons to ShenmueThe discovery was shared by Matthew Edwards, brand manager for Capcom Europe. Edwards shared off-screen footage ofStreet Fighter 6from demo stations atJapan Expo 2022, where Capcom’s featuring the upcoming fighting game. He says that he saw a player pull off a Perfect win and saw their character, Luke, do their new animation. As such, he asked them to do it again, so he could record it. Edwards then shared it online via Twitter soStreet Fighterplayers could see the new feature.
Luke’s animation shows him doing a short little dance after getting his Perfect victory. Edwards says it’s fitting, as “Luke is definitely from the TikTok generation.” The comments on the post are, hilariously, pointing out thatLuke’s animationis kind of freakish. His model is built for fighting, so when it does something else like dancing his proportions are way off and it looks very odd.
If Luke does a little dance after scoring a Perfect win, it begs the question as to what other characters will do when they secure a Perfect. It’s a great opportunity forCapcomto offer a simple look into each character’s personality, while also rewarding players for doing something cool.
With luck, further Perfect animations will be shared as part of Japan Expo 2022 or at one of the other upcoming events Capcom plans to attend, like SDCC 2022 orEVO 2022. There are still only four characters in the demo, so only Ryu, Jamie, and Chun-Li’s animations could be revealed. Any of which would likely be warmly embraced byStreet Fighterfans.
Street Fighter 6releases in 2023 for PC, PS4, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
