Ice Wraiths are cold serpent-like creatures that reward helpful Alchemy materials and float around the openSkyrimenvironment as one of the less common enemies. These ethereal entities are often found in frigid areas, dungeons, or are summoned by stronger foes, and oneSkyrimfan recently encountered an Ice Wraith behaving strangely as it slowly chased them for several yards.

Reddit user Brebarr posted aSkyrimclip a few days ago in which they are left waiting in a Dwarven Ruin for an aggressive Ice Wraith to path its way to theSkyrimplayer from above. Though the Ice Wraith is capable of floating around the open world, it’s unable to fly likeSkyrim’s dragons, which may be the cause of this creature taking the slow way to theSkyrimplayer rather than the path of the least resistance.

Brebarr’sSkyrimvideo begins with theDragonbornreaching the large metal door to the Dwarven Ruin while they realize that an enemy is pursuing them which causes theSkyrimplayer to turn around to observe what challenger approaches. For a moment, the setting is peaceful and then the Ice Wraith appears in the distance at the top of three flights of stairs. Instead of floating down the short drops to reach Brebarr sooner, the Ice Wraith opts to follow the path and take each set of stairs, with two of the staircases exceeding a dozen steps.

Brebarr is left waiting for 14-seconds as the frosty entity float across each of the three sets of stairs to reach the nearby location that often rewardsDwarven gear. Although it doesn’t show who wins the battle between Dragonborn and Ice Wraith, Brebarr’s clip ends with the Ice Wraith finally facing theSkyrimplayer that is equipped with a Nordic Sword, which is typically enough to defeat the frozen beast. Fast travel and waiting are usually prevented by nearby enemies, but should Brebarr have wanted to avoid the encounter, they could’ve opened the door toSkyrimbehind them.

Ice Wraiths aren’t the onlySkyrimcreatures to cause pause, as a troll has triggered multiple kill cams for one fan, a teleporting dragon hashaunted anotherSkyrimplayer, and Elks have suddenly dropped from the sky on rare occasions. The NPCs ofSkyrimhave also been impacted by similar bugs, which suggests that these issues aren’t limited to just the RPG’s enemies. Because Ice Wraiths will take fall damage if they’re knocked off a cliff inSkyrim, it isn’t too absurd to see the floating beast take the stairs down in this odd manner, but someSkyrimfans have imagined it screaming at the Dragonborn as it slowly makes its way to them for additional comedic relief.

Skyrimis available now for Nintendo Switch, PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
