Hype forSplatoon 3is growing as the release of the next installment in the series is just around the corner. This excitement is understandable as Nintendo provided fans with an in-depth look at what to expect from the upcoming title in a Nintendo Direct just over a week ago. While the developer revealed many things in this Nintendo Direct forSplatoon 3, another unexpected detail regarding the game has surfaced since then.

WithSplatoon 3only a few more weeks from launch, Nintendo has updated the file size for the game. According to the Nintendo eShop page forSplatoon 3, the title now requires only 4.3GB of free space in order to download. While the previous file size for the game was only 6GB, this reduction could still be significant for some as theoriginal Switch only comes with roughly 32GB of storage, and some of that is used for the system. As a result, this reduction in file size might make freeing up space for the latest entry in theSplatoonseries a little more manageable for some gamers.

It is interesting to see a reduction in file size from what was reported in April, but it is a welcome change nonetheless. This reduced file size forSplatoon 3makes it a smaller game to download on the platform compared to several other recent Nintendo games. For example,Kirby and the Forgotten Landrequires 5.7GB of space to download, whileXenoblade Chronicles 3needs a larger 15GBdownload, both titles from 2022. In addition, this reduced size makesSplatoon 3a smaller download compared toSplatoon 2, which came in at 6.1GB.

In addition to this news regarding file size, fans will soon have the opportunity to check out the next installment in theSplatoonseries for themselves. Ahead of the September 9 release date, the developer is hosting aSplatfest World Premiere forSplatoon 3on August 27. This pre-release event will give players the opportunity to play Turf War battles for free for a limited time. In addition, the second half of the event will feature the new Tricolor Turf Wars that features three competing teams.

It will be interesting to seewhat the future holds forSplatoon 3. While this reduction in file size might not make a substantial difference in whether many fans purchase the title, it is still nice to see the developer looking for ways to decrease the storage required to run the game. Hopefully,Splatoon 3can deliver the colorful and frenetic fun that the series has become known for when it releases in the coming days.
