Even with just a week left before Bethesda relaunchesThe Elder Scrolls V: Skyrimwith a special edition, the game has been fairly quiet in terms of marketing and promotion. Fans were treated to areveal trailer at E3and details have since emerged here and there, but for the most part, things have been fairly quiet. All of that appears to be changing now as hand picked members of the community have started to release new videos showing the game in action, including how the game has visually changed from the way many fans may remember it.
The new footage comes not from Bethesda but YouTuber FudgeMuppet, who is one of a handful of video creators to go hands on with the newly remastered version ofSkyrimearly. In this 16 minute video, fans can get a clear picture of how the visuals have been overhauled since the game originally launched five years ago. The commentary and combat free gameplay footage is shown entirely from a first person perspective as his character runs through many of the major cities within the game. Longtime players will likely recognize the likes of Winterhold, Whiterun, Riften, Solitude and a bunch of others.

While visually not quite on the same level as Bethesda’s other recent release,Fallout 4, the video does show off a much improved look thanks to the help of enhanced lighting andremastered art and effects. Still, it doesn’t appear everyone is convinced, as comments for this video seem to range from excitement to disappointment over what is perceived as very little having been changed.
While this special edition ofSkyrimwill retail at full price for most people, PC users do have an opportunity to snag this updatecompletely for freeprovided a few conditions are met beforehand. Steam users who either own the Legendary Edition ofSkyrimor regular users who have purchased every piece of DLC will get an update on October 28 containing the full special edition version of the game absolutely free. Considering that this new versionsupports all existing mods, this promotion should make longtime fans quite happy.
