For months, leakers have suggested that aSilent Hillreboot is in development, and now the latest information suggests thatmultiplenewSilent Hillgames are in development. It’s been teased thatThe Mediumdeveloper Bloober Team is one of the studios working on aSilent Hillgame, whereas a Japanese studio is making a different one, possibly the rumored PS5 reboot. While official details on newSilent Hillgames remain scarce at the time of this writing, it seemsSilent Hillisn’t the onlyKonamifranchise that’s gearing up for a comeback.

VGC sources claim thatKonamiis looking to have newCastlevaniaandMetal Gear Solidgames developed “via external companies,” with the release “still years away.” Specific external companies that Konami may work with to develop newCastlevaniaandMetal Gear Solidgames were not revealed, and it’s also unclear if any such projects have gotten off the ground yet. Konami apparently made the decision to outsource development on its franchises after the poor performances of first-party games likeContra: Rogue CorpsandMetal Gear Survive, both of which earned negative reviews and weak sales.

It’s not specified if Konami has already found partners to work on these games like it has apparently done withSilent Hill. However, this isn’t the first time that we’ve heard about a potential newMetal Gear Solidgame. In fact, a reliable leaker said last year thatBluepoint Games is working on aMetal Gear Solidremake for PS5, and considering the studio’s track record of putting out high quality remakes, that is an exciting prospect indeed.

As far as theCastlevaniafranchise, it’s less clear what its video game future holds. There haven’t been any rumors about any studio making a newCastlevaniagame, so maybe that’s farther out than the supposed newMetal Gear Solidprojects. But while a new coreCastlevaniagame may or may not be in the works somewhere, Konami is still getting some mileage out of the franchise thanks to theCastlevaniaNetflix series.

Meanwhile, theMetal Gear Solidlive-action movie is also proceeding with production, gaining more momentum than it’s had in years. Late last year, it was announced thatOscar Isaac would play Solid Snakein theMetal Gear Solidmovie, so it seems that the long-in-development film is finally making good progress.

Before fans get too excited about newCastlevaniaandMetal Gear Solidvideo games, though, they should treat this information with a great deal of skepticism. While it comes from official sources, nothing official has been announced by Konami at the time of this writing and it’s better to keep one’s expectations in check.
