WithModern Warfare2’scampaign returning to consoles recently through a brand new remaster, it seems players are more eager than ever to revisit its iconic sequel,Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3.Dropping back in 2011, the game acted as the finale to the originalModern Warfaretrilogy, seeing the storyline weaved through each game come to a close and welcoming a long hiatus that was finally lifted last year when the series returned inCall of Duty: Modern Warfare.
It seems players may be getting their wish soon, however, with a new leak coming from YouTuberTheGamingRevolutionclaiming that not only willModern Warfare 3be getting a remaster, but it’s actually already finished. According to the leaker, the game was allegedly made in tandem withModern Warfare 2’sremaster, with Sony apparently wanting both games to be available around the same time.

Unfortunately, the leaker also reveals there’s a massive catch. Much likeCall of Duty: Modern Warfare 2, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3’sremaster will also not include multiplayer, with the package only delivering players the campaign. In a video surrounding the subject, the leaker claimed “I have no idea if they’ve even started onModern Warfare 3 Remasteredmultiplayer, like they did withModern Warfare 2 Remastered, or if they’ve only worked on the campaign,” continuing by stating “but likewise toModern Warfare 2, it has been pretty much finished for quite some time.”
Much like withModern Warfare 2’srecent release, if this leak turns out to be true, it will no doubt come as a major disappointment to fans of the classic game that were looking forward to diving back into its iconic multiplayer. Not only wasModern Warfare 3renown for having some of the best mapsand modes of any large-scale multiplayer shooter, but the game also hold a lot of nostalgia forCall of Dutyfans who would love to experience playing it online once again. While its iconic campaign will be welcomed with open arms, many will feel short-changed without the game’s exceptional multiplayer bundled alongside it.
As TheGamingRevolution does hint towards though, it seems likely that multiplayer could be coming to both theModern Warfare 2and3remasters somewhere down the line. As fans have made very clear in recent weeks, being able to play both these classic games online with friends is a key component of why players want to see them return. Regardless, it’ll be fantastic to seeModern Warfare 3’scampaignre-imagined with beautiful new visuals on modern hardware.
