Rocket Leagueboasts a lot of content that’s in line with the chaotic spirit of its vehicular soccer arena premise. As the next season of the popular e-sport game gets under way as part of patch 2.12, developers Psyonix have unveiled what additions are coming in a new gameplay trailer. With a lot of content on offer, the bombastic clip exhibits a new “animated” seasonal theme and Rocket Pass that includes, as always, several cosmetic items, a new playable van to its roster.
To sayRocket Leaguehas had a lot of updates would still be an understatement since it’s release in 2015, seeing several cross-overs including titan Xbox propertiesHaloandGears of Warover its lifespan. Most recently, to mark the theatrical release ofThe Batman,a playable Batmobile was added to the storefor 1100 credits equipped with a unique booster and goal explosion. Now, continuing with the superhero theme, a new comic-style map variant has also been added to the title as part of season 6, which is live on all platforms now.

Developer Pysonix has revealed a new gameplay trailer showing what additions are coming toRocket Leagueas part of its latest “animated” Season 6 update. While a lot of content is still to be desired, the frenzied montage shows several items from its updated Rocket Pass as well as the new playable cyber-punk “Neo Tokyo” comic arena variant that is live on playlists now. The trailer also uncovers more details ofRocket League’slatest addition its car roster, “Nomad,” a cross-country van that is available to drivers immediately upon purchase of the premium pass.
The trailer also teases a mid-season game mode and multitude of cosmetic items that are in line with the eccentric theme. As part of the gameplay, one new goal explosion can even be seen turning all vehicles and arena into a sepia toned comic book in celebration. Also shown in the season are the soon-to-be released blueprints for the Fornax series, which will allow players to don a sleek set of shades and the Mamba car. Adding to the stylistic mayhem, a legendary black variant ofunlockable esport favorite; the Fennecwill also be coming to the store at a later date.
The latest addition to the car lot, “Nomad,” utilizes theMerc hitbox, the tallest by a considerable heightof the six vehicle hitboxes on offer inRocket League.Marked as a limited rarity with its GXT model available at tier 70 of the Rocket Pass, its addition as the third Merc released via the Rocket Pass item while appreciated, may be a lackluster addition to many players on the pitch given its limited use. Still, as one of the diverse contributions to the season 6 line-up, it gets a pass as part of the fresh step forward in content.
With new seasonal tournaments and credits transferring from season 5, there are a lot of rewards and unlockables to be gained as part ofRocket League’s sixth season. While many of the additions teased are not in the game quite yet, the array of what’s to come should still get players excited, even “animated” atadding to their supercar line-up.
