Early on following the announcement that theResident Evil 2remake was on the way, fans started to wonder if the game’s various extra modes and easter eggs would reach the remake. Capcom delivered, bringing back iconic additions like theplayable block of Tofuand a nod to Brad Vickers, but that’s not all. Rebecca Chambers also makes an appearance in the form of a hidden photo, just like in the original game, providing the player knows how to find it.
In the originalResident Evil 2, a photo could be found ofResident EvilS.T.A.R.S.team member andResident Evil Zeroprotagonist Rebecca Chambers if certain criteria were met. Players had to check Albert Wesker’s desk over and over, and only after the fiftieth attempt would the game reveal an undeveloped film roll and allow the player to pick it up. TheResident Evil 2remake does things a little differently, but players will be pleased to know that they can still collect the photo.

To grab the picture of Rebecca, players will need to find the game’shiding place film, which can only be picked up once they’ve reached the sewers. After picking up the T-Bar Valve Handle and riding the Workroom Lift, the film roll can be found on a table in the upstairs room. Once that roll is brought back to the R.P.D. and developed, it will reveal two photos of different hiding places in the Raccoon City Police department, including a shot of Wesker’s desk.
With the photos developed, the player should head to theS.T.A.R.S. officeand take an immediate left into the private room. In the left-hand side of the desk, a drawer can be opened that will provide the player with a wooden box, which is part of the hiding place quest. However, players with keen eyes will notice that there’s still a roll of film visible in the desk drawer when picking up the box.
At this point,Resident Evil 2will no longer show an option to check the drawer, as the player has already received the main pick-up. However, pressing X on PS4, A on Xbox One, or F on a PC keyboard one more time while standing in front of the drawer will nonetheless reward the player with the new film roll. Take that back to the darkroom and develop it to see Rebecca Chambers hanging out at the basketball court.
Unfortunately, finding the easter egg doesn’t open up any achievements, and there are no secrets hidden in the photo that can help the player progress in the game. Even so, it’s a fun easter egg to find and yet another fine detail that was implemented into one of the best game remakes.
Resident Evil 2is out now for PC, PS4, and Xbox One.
