Psychonauts 2doesn’t try to reinvent the wheel and keeps its core gameplay very similar to its acclaimed predecessor. One of the many similarities is the plethora of items to buy, purchased with a currency known as Psitanium. For those needing to earn Psitanium in a hurry, here are a few effective methods.
What Is Psitanium?
Psitanium is a currency used by psychics. Ford Crueller describes Psitanium to Raz as “a very rare, psychoreactive mineral” that “can make psychics more psychic, but can also make unstable people more unstable”.
Psitanium is predominantly used inPsychonauts 2to purchase items from the Otto-Matic, a shop created by Otto Mentallis that can be found throughout the Motherlobe. The shop sells items, pins and lets Raz combine his PSI Challenge Cards with PSI Cores to create Challenge Markers. Unfortunately, Otto Mentallis' Otto-Matic isn’t cheap, as every item requires a significant chunk of Psitanium.
How To Earn Psitanium Quickly
Thankfully, there are numerous different ways to earn Psitanium in a hurry.

It’s worth pointing out that players may want to upgrade their wallet capacity when they first reach the Motherlobe. The base capacity of 100 will soon prove to be too small, and Raz can easily upgrade it to 1000 by purchasing the Psifold Wallet for 75 Psitanium at the Otto-Matic.
Farming At The Motherlode
One of the simplest and most reliable ways to earn Psitanium in a hurry is to farm it at the Motherlobe. TheMotherlobe’s lobby has a large quantity of Psitanium dotted aroundthat can be collected without too much hassle. Better yet,if players head down to the reception area and then return to the lobby, most of the Psitanium will be reset.
This simple method will earn players between 200 and 250 Psitanium each run and take 2 to 3 minutes each time - players can rinse and repeat this method as often as they like.
Use Pyrokinesis And Destroy Everything In Sight
From a solid, reliable method to one that is unpredictable and slightly unhinged.
Despite being a valuable resource, Psitanium is hiding all over the place inPsychonauts 2.To put it bluntly,if an object is destructible, there’s a good chance that there’s some Psitanium tucked inside. Pyrokinesis is a great way to obtain Psitanium from destructible objects like cardboard boxes, as it will highlight which items are can be destroyed before burning them to a crisp.

Pyrokinesis isn’t the only way to gain Psitanium from destructible objects, as simply running around smashing everything in sight with basic attacks will earn the player a surprising amount of Psitanium. It may not be the most glamorous method, but it does generate Psitanium in a hurry.

The Mental Magnet may initially sound like little more than a gimmick, but players will soon find themselves collecting mountains of Psitanium with it equipped.
The Mental Magnet’s benefits are simple, it attracts small objects, like Psitanium, to Raz from a greater distance. This may sound like an unnecessary luxury item when first reaching the Motherlobe, as most players will be happy to run around collecting the currency themselves within the game’s opening hours.
However, many players will start finding this tedious by the time they reach the mid-game, making the Mental Magent a great way to continue earning Psitanium in a hurry.The Mental Magnet is also very helpful in combat, as it can attract health orbs from fallen foes, giving players a frequent boost in health without having to risk collecting them manually with enemies around.

Many of the Otto-Matic’s items are only available to Raz once heincreases his rankto a certain point. One such item is the Mental Tax, a pin that costs 200 Psitanium.

With Mental Tax equipped, Psitanium will be emitted when Raz makes Mental Connections. Players can use this to their advantage byfinding a long Mental Connection chain and simply riding it back and forth, collecting eye-watering amounts of Psitanium in the process.This method can earn players 5000 Psitanium in just a few minutes, so it’s worth upgrading Raz’s wallet capacity beforehand if necessary.

The final method is also the simplest.Players should take the time to save up for the Psimultanium pin, as it will earn them double Psitanium. It’s worth pointing out straight away that, unfortunately, the pin doesn’t work with the aforementioned Mental Tax method. Still, by wearing the pin and utilizing any of the other methods, players will be able to collect as much Psitanium as they need in no time.
The Psimultanium pin isn’t cheap, setting players back a whopping 750 Psitanium, but it’s certainly worth buying as soon as possible.
