ThePokemon Trading Card Gameis seeing a surge in popularity unlike anything its seen in years. Spurred by Twitch and YouTube influencers opening card packs, combined with skyrocketing card values, thePokemon TCGis readying its latest themed set. The Celebrations set is not only a special expansion just for thePokemon TCG’s 25th anniversary but also unique in that it’s bringing back a variety of discontinued card types that thePokemoncommunity is hungrier than ever to acquire.
According to the official announcement from the Pokemon Company, thePokemon TCGCelebrations set features a large variety of the franchise’s favorite characters. That includes the return a set of 25 special returning cards like theBase Set Charizard, Umbreon ☆, and Tapu Lele-GX. While thePokemon Companydoesn’t directly address the sudden surge in thePokemon TCG’s popularity, VP Barry Sams does acknowledge it in a very circumspect manner. Sams describes thePokemon TCGas an “iconic pillar” of thePokemonfranchise. He then says that it’s a “joy” to see thePokemon TCGcommunity continue to grow, which is certainly putting the situation lightly.
ThePokemon TCGCelebration set, as well as the first range of unique collections and products, will launch on October 8 later this year. The Pokemon Company will hopefully be able to provide enough stock of the new card set thatPokemonfansof all ages will be able to join in on the excitement.
