Mythical Pokemon are some of the rarest, most desirable Pokemon that a trainer could catch. So, the news thatPokemon Sword and Shieldplayers would be able to get both Zarude and a Shiny Celebi was rather exciting for them. That is, until players learned about the caveat: this event is only available in Japan to players who have pre-ordered tickets to the newestPokemonfilm,Pokemon the Movie: Coco.

Players are very aware of how big a deal the release of both these Pokemon really is, as well as what they’ll be missing out on.Zarude is a newly announced Mythical Pokemon, and this is the first news of how Zarude will be released since its announcement. That being said, there still isn’t any information about an international release. Shiny Celebi, on the other hand, is a big deal because it’s never been distributed through an event like this before. JapanesePokemonfans will be the first to receive Shiny Celebi in this way, rather than by chance inPokemon Crystal.

The Pokemon Company announced this event on its official Japanese Twitter account, where it also links to the movie’s official site for more information. According to the official website, players who pre-order tickets toPokemon the Movie: Cocowill be able to download the two Mythical Pokemon. Those who pre-order will receive two download codes, one for Shiny Celebi and one for Zarude, which will unlock on April 17 and June 15 respectively. SinceZarude appears to be tied toPokemon the Movie: Coco, it’s not surprising that its release would coincide with the movie, but it’s unclear if Celebi is connected to the new film in any way.

The fact that this event is currently exclusively to JapanesePokemonfans is disappointing to players from other regions. However, it would be surprising if the Pokemon Company decided to exclude non-Japanese fans entirely. It’s more likely thatZarude and Shiny Celebi will be distributed through another methodfor the rest of the world, rather than keeping them as Japanese exclusives. But, since the film has yet to even premiere in Japan, information regarding international events for Zarude and Shiny Celebi will probably come later rather than sooner.

Ultimately, non-Japanese players will need to bide their time.Pokemon SwordandShieldhas been updated with raid events rather frequently, so it’s not as thoughPokemonfans are desperately in need of new things to do. And sinceThe Isle of Armor DLC is set to release this June, trainers will have new content to enjoy before they know it.

Pokemon Sword and Shieldare currently available exclusively for Nintendo Switch.
