Sunlight is not as popular as its rain counterpart inPokemon Scarlet and Violet. However, there are many useful effects waiting for players to take advantage of. Not only does it boost thepower of Fire-type moves, it also weakens Water moves and gives different Pokemon with abilities power-ups that can greatly change the outcome of a battle. These are some Pokemon that trainers may want to consider adding to anySunny Dayteam in the Paldea region.

Best Sun Team Pokemon in Scarlet and Violet

Charizard

Charizard has been a fan favorite for years; luckily for those trainers under the right conditions, it can pack a punch as well. Charizard has the hidden ability Solar Power, boosting special attack while under the effects of sun. With a whopping 109 special attack boosted under sunlight and access to moves like Solar Beam, Flamethrower, Dragon Pulse, Heat Wave, and Air Slash, Charizard can most definitely pack a punch. Trainers might want to build a team around Charizard’s weaknesses to give this classic Pokemon the best chances to sweep.

Flutter Mane

Flutter Mane is a very interesting Pokemonwith stats that make it insanely fast and dangerous and also make it frail and weak to physical damage. This Pokemon is one of the most commonly used monsters in competitive play for good reason.

With the effects of harsh sunlight, Flutter Mane’s highest stat is boosted, giving trainers the ability to manipulate either Speed, Sp. Defense, or Sp. Attack, while having a huge pool of moves that cover many type weaknesses any team might have. Mixing speed and the ability to tank special attacks while dishing out major damage with proper support, this Pokemon can be extremely tough for any opponent who isn’t aware of the threat it poses.

Skeledirge

Skeledirge has a good set of stats that allow trainers to really hone in on its strengths while avoiding its weaknesses. It also has one of the best hidden abilities, Unaware, which lets this Pokemon come into the midst of battle and just ignore any stat changes the opponent may have stacked up.

While being considerably bulky in defenses, it has a high special attack to make use of. It has access to Solar Beam, which in sunlight allows this powerful move to be used without an extra turn to charge up. It also has Torch Song, which powers up its special attack. And then, on top of that, Having Slack Off for sustainment and even more moves to take advantage of Skeledirge can be very tough for opponents to handle.

Jumpluff

Jumpluff has a speed most Pokemon can only hope to dream of; while 110 may not be the fastest base speed, it has access to Chlorophyll, bringing that 110 to a staggering 220 base speed. For context,Regielekihas the highest base speed of any Pokemon with 200; surprisingly, this makes Jumpluff one of the fastest Pokemon around.

Without the defenses to back up that speed, it diminishes its ability to stay on the field long. However, it has access to a vast amount of moves that can prove useful as support to any team. Using moves like Tailwind, Leech Seed, Cotton Spore, Memento, Light Screen, Reflect, and more, Jumpluff can be an amazing addition to any sun team inPokemon Scarlet and Violet.

Ninetales

Ninetales is a lovable Fire type from the first generation of Pokemon that most players might’ve been ecstatic to hear of its return. Sun team users, however, could have found a staple for setting up moving forward. Drought is an ability that allows a Pokemon to set the sunlight without the use of a move slot for sunny day. Only five Pokemon have ever had access to this ability (including Vulpix, its earlier evolution).

With that aside, it has decent stats that give trainers the ability to bring it into battle and set up, disrupt opponents, and provide decent damage.

Victreebel

Victreebel is one of the latest additions to Generation 9via theTeal MaskDLC. While this Pokemon doesn’t have the most amazing stats, the ability Chlorophyll gives it a much-needed boost when utilized properly. With a 70 base speed now being doubled with the help of its ability, trainers can dive into its move pool and use plenty of different strategies.

Victreebel lacks defensive capabilities but makes up for it with disrupting moves like Gastro acid, Lunge, Knock Off, Encore, Reflect, and Pounce, to name a few. One move that is particularly useful in making this Pokemon last a bit longer on the field is Stockpile which boosts both defense and special defense while having access to Leech Life, Rest, and Giga Drain. With the stats to be used as a physical or special attacker while also makes Victreebel more versatile and difficult for opponents to predict how to play against.
