Cyberpunk 2077got off to an extremely rocky start and has since struggled to improve itself. Despite possessing many technical issues in the form of glitches and bugs, it still managed to perform well financially, given how highly anticipatedCyberpunk 2077was in the months leading up to its release date. However, even after being out for over four months, the game still can’t be purchased on one major platform.
It’s been over100 days since the removal ofCyberpunk 2077from the PlayStation Store, and in that time, Sony has made no clear indication of when PlayStation users can purchase the game digitally again. Although, now it seems the removal ofCyberpunk 2077from the PlayStation Store may have significantly impacted the sales of the game on other game-selling platforms.

After announcing theimpressive sales figures forCyberpunk 2077, a CD Projekt Red executive commented on how the removal of the game from the PlayStation Store may have inadvertently dissuaded players from purchasing the game on other platforms, and said that it “definitely influenced sales.” In spite of this supposed negative impact on sales, the game still sold quite well, even having launched in the state that it did.
CD Projekt Redrecently announced thatCyberpunk 2077sold over 13 million units by the end of 2020. Though, it seems that the game undersold by comparison to its projected sales figure, which could potentially be reflected inCyberpunk’sremoval from the PlayStation Store. That being said, for less than one month on the market, that’s still extremely impressive.
Of course, many console players still consider the game to be unfinished and borderline unplayable in many instances. Sadly, in terms ofredemption,Cyberpunk 2077has quite a long road ahead of it. While these initial patches have fixed quite a lot of the ongoing issues players have been experienced, it is still nowhere near the quality that many players were expecting going into the game.
It will be interesting to see what the future holds forCyberpunk 2077. It seems fairly evident that CD Projekt Red wishes to make things right, otherwise the studio would not have taken the time to release such extensive patches for the game. Not to mention the fact thatDLC forCyberpunk 2077is still in the works. With any luck, the developers will be able to improve the overall experience in a timely matter to the point where Sony puts the game back on the PlayStation Store.
Cyberpunk 2077is available now on PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S support currently in development.
