After a showcase of the DualSense controller’s capabilities yesterday, a project lead did confirm that the developer might be open to releasing more customization options.

In a recent interview withindustry journalist Geoff Keighley,PlayStation worldwide marketing head Eric Lempel confirmed that Sony would discuss “other colors” for the PS5 and its accessories after launch. When asked about these potential options, Lempel noted the difficulties in producing the existing design for its holiday release. However, he did promise that Sony would talk about producing colored variants “at some point.”
Lempel’s statement lines up with existing reports about trouble surrounding PS5 production. AlthoughSony is working on producing more consolesthan initially anticipated, reports indicate that the company still faces a shortage of consoles due to high demand. But as many social media users pointed out, despite these difficulties, Sony has a history of releasing colored variants for previous consoles. However, a vocal minority of the audience took this opportunity to express their dissatisfaction with the interview. Specifically, one Twitter user said he was more concerned with how Sony would address controller stick drift and other design flaws in the PS4 DualShock controller.
While Lempel’s answer may not satisfy fans who dislike the next PlayStation’s appearance, third parties are already preparing their own solutions.
