Developed by Niantic, it was a follow-up collaboration after the wild success ofPokemon GO.Two million players downloadedPikmin Bloomwithin its first month, proving thePokemon GOformula has enough appeal to work more than once, with appropriate changes along the way. InPikmin Bloom, players head out into the real world and exercise their adorable Pikmin creatures, producing new seedlings and gathering an army of friendly creatures visible only on their phones. It’s a low-stress incentive for gamers to enjoy the great outdoors.

The Valentine’s Day event gets into the spirit of the holiday by allowing players to complete 20 different missions in exchange for Present Sticker Decor Pikmin. Red mushrooms will also appear more frequently, and any postcards the industrious Pikmin discover will feature a Valentine’s Day design. Niantic is encouraging players to invite their friends to join in on the fun, and there are special Valentine’s Day Gift Packs to pass along as part of the celebration. The special Valentine’s Day event runs from February 6 through February 26. It follows other themed events Niantic has held since the game’s release. A specialPikmin 3 Deluxeevent occurred inPikmin Bloom, for instance.
WhilePikminis a reasonably popular franchise for Nintendo, as evidenced by the immediate success ofPikmin Bloom, it doesn’t match the popularity of other franchises such asPokemon,Mario, andZelda.
