Continuing the adventure beyondPersona 5, anxious fans in the west have been waiting for the release ofPersona 5 Strikers. Meant to serve as a prequel to the base game, the Phantom Thieves reconvene once more for summer vacation, though not everything is as breezy and laidback as it seems. Melding the action combat systems ofDynasty Warriorsinto the strategy and elemental affinities ofPersona,Persona 5 Strikersboasts an excellent balance between the old and new.
As the Phantom Thieves prepare to strike today via the deluxe edition of the game, Atlus has provided a launch trailer forPersona 5 Strikersin celebration of pre-launch. Highlighting the overall very positive reviews of the game, as well some short-but-sweet tidbits of story and hints of what’s to come,Persona 5 Strikerswill soon be in the hands of the most dedicated fans. All fans will be able to playPersona 5 Strikerson February 23, but those who purchase the deluxe edition get to play four days early.

This trailer once again showcases the game’s epic action-oriented combat system, highlightingall of the unique fighting styles for all the Phantom Thieves. However, what’s more interesting are the hints to the various locations the Thieves will visit, as well as the threats they face in this new Metaverse. The trailer’s narration in particular shines a specific light on Zenkichi Hasegawa, the police investigator the Phantom Thieves find themselves allied with throughoutPersona 5 Strikers.
Outside of Shibuya, which has beenshown off prominently in previous trailers forStrikers, this new trailer showcases a new icy locale, as well as a separate industrial-looking place similar to Okumura’s palace inPersona 5. There’s even an angry mob of people chasing after them in the real-world, no doubt a result of this new Metaverse tainting the lives of citizens throughout Japan. As Hasegawa hints at, it seems the Phantom Thieves are the only ones who can stop the corruption affecting all of society.
In terms of accolades,reviews forStrikersoverall are genuinely quite positive, with the game’s score on Metacritic averaging at an 85. Nearly all of which praise the combat system’s genre-bending, and how it feels familiar but refreshing to play. Game Rant’s review in particular gavePersona 5 Strikersa 4/5, noting similar achievement with the game’s combat system, despite a few minor concerns. All in all, for fans ofPersona 5,Strikersis not a game worth skipping over and it shows.
