Fans have already seen so many secrets revealed, and Oda has barely scratched the surface. Before the manga entered the Final Saga, there was one significant reveal that shocked the entire fanbase.While Eustass Kid was talkingto Killer, the former said they had to look for the man with the burn scar. Subsequently, it was confirmed that this individual could prove to be key in the race for the One Piece.
Who Is Hinokizu?
Hinokizu literally translates to the man with the burn scar. He has not been mentioned many times in the story, so there is very limited information available about him. Hinokizu is speculated to have the fourthand final Road Poneglyph, which mysteriously disappeared sometime after Roger became the Pirate King. If he has the Road Poneglyph, he is by far and above the most important character inOne Piece.
Considering only three pirate crews knew about him, Hinokizu had hidden his identity and whereabouts rather well. The Straw Hats only learned about it in Wano, and they have to pursue this mysterious man at all costs. So far, no leads have been revealed, but it won’t be long before Oda drops a hint. According to Lafitte, Hinokizu can create vortexes whenever he is traveling. This prevents any ships from approaching him. If they do get close, the vortexes will make quick work of them.
Possible Identities of Hinokizu
The first name on the minds of fans is that of Scopper Gaban. He used to be a member of the Roger Pirates, and he was among the top officers within the crew. In Oden’s flashback, he was standing alongside Rayleigh, which implies that the two were close. Like the rest of the crew, Gaban vanished into thin air. He has yet to appear in the story, but it is likely that he is still alive. If Gaban is the man with the burn scar, it would make a lot of sense, as he traveled to every single island with his crew. Not only would he know where the last Road Poneglyph is, but he would also know about the Void Century.
The other candidate is Jaguar D. Saul. He had been presumed dead by the rest of the world for decades, but inthe Egghead arc, Vegapunk confirmed that he was still alive. The giant was present during the Ohara massacre, and it was only because of his sacrifice that Robin made it out alive. Saul was frozen solid by Aokiji, after which every single person on the island was killed. The heat emanating from the flames on Ohara thawed out the giant.
It is possible that the high temperature left burn marks all over his body. Vegapunk also revealed that Saul found the books that the scholars tried to save. Saul guided the giants to rescue the books and took them all back to Elbaf. It is highly likely that Saul went through the books and found information about the Road Poneglyph. Given the strength of the giants, they are the only race that can lift something as heavy as a Poneglyph. If Saul is indeed Hinokizu, then the Road Poneglyph is in Elbaf.
What Will Happen Once Hinokizu Is Found?
At the moment, there are four crews that are actively searching for the One Piece. These are: Straw Hat Pirates, Red Hair Pirates, Blackbeard Pirates, and Buggy’s Cross Guild. The Straw Hats are engaged in a battle with St. Jaygarcia Saturn and the Marines. They seem to be in a pinch, so they will have to pull the rabbit out of the hat to escape from Egghead Island. Once they do, the crew will definitely sail toward Elbaf, where Robin and Saul will be reunited after years.
The Blackbeard Pirates crushedthe Heart Pirates and stole the two Road Poneglyphs in their possession. Currently, they should have three Road Poneglyphs, the same number as the Straw Hats. Lafitte and the rest of the crew already know about Hinokizu, so it won’t be long before they find a lead.
The Red Hair Pirates are the only group to reach Elbaf. They seemed to be on good terms with the people, and they even fought against the Kid Pirates. It was a short tussle, with Shanks nearly obliterating the entire crew. He took their Road Poneglyphs, meaning the Red Hair Pirates have two of them.
Buggy’s partyjoined the race for the One Piecein the most odd circumstances. After he was beaten up once again by Mihawk and Crocodile, Buggy made it clear to them that he wanted the legendary treasure as well. So he shouted that he wanted to become the Pirate King.
Out of the four, whoever manages to find Hinokizu will take a giant leap toward obtaining the One Piece.
