It’s March 10, orMAR10 Dayas Nintendo fans like to call it, a once a year celebration of all things related to the iconic Italian plumber. To help commemorate the oddball Mario Day holiday, Nintendo’s holding a special sales event. Several of Mario’s most popular games on the Nintendo Switch are discounted and will remain so through March 16. Nintendo will also be offering a special Nintendo Switch bundle for sale this week as well. Mario’s still going strong 38 years after his debut as Jumpman in the original Donkey Kong arcade game.
The MAR10 Day Sales event officially starts today and is being celebrated at storefronts both retail and online, then ends on Saturday, March 16. The sale features a $20 discount on five differentNintendo Switch games:Super Mario Odyssey,Mario Kart 8 Deluxe,Super Mario Party, andNew Super Mario Bros. U Deluxe. The discount comes off of each game’s full $60 retail pricing, bringing their price down to $39.99. MAR10 Day discounts may not be as steep as others previously seen, but are a good opportunity for fans who have been waiting to pick up any of the five games.
As for theNintendo Switch bundle, Nintendo is offering a brand new Nintendo Switch as well as one of the five discounted Mario games together at a price of $329.28. That’s the full price of a Nintendo Switch, but 50% off of the game. That is to say, it’s about $10 cheaper than just buying the console and the game separately during the MAR10 Day sale.
My Nintendo members on PC or mobile devices can also join in on the holiday fun. Nintendo is offering a special MAR10 Day wallpaper and March calendar in trade for some loose reward points.
Nintendo fans young and old likely have a range of memories associated with Mario from across the years. He’s been the face of Nintendo for decades now, starring in Nintendo’s most popular games across several generations. Whether it beSuper Mario Bros.on the Nintendo Entertainment System,Super Mario Galaxyon the Wii, orSuper Mario Odysseyon Nintendo Switch, Mario’s played a major role throughout Nintendo and its fans' lives. MAR10 Day and a sale may seem silly in the face of that legacy, but taking a day to acknowledge his past is really the least that can be done.
Have a happy Mario Day, everyone, and here’s to many more in the years to come.
