The largest overall change for Chapter 2 was that the old map -which saw seasonal evolutions from when the battle royalefirst launched - was replaced with a fresh and beautiful new world. However, just as with Chapter 1 ofFortnite, where each new season often brought map altering events, fans are speculating that Chapter 2 Season 2 may see a massive evolution of the map in the form of a flood.

Swimming was one of the new game mechanicsthat was added toFortniteChapter 2. At the moment, that ability is mostly reserved for locations such as rivers that go through the map and bays on the edges of the maps. There are a few smaller pockets of water, such as ponds, that players can swim through as well. If the map were to have a giant water overhaul, the swimming mechanic is already in place and would be able to handle large pockets of still or flowing water.

While it remains speculation at this point, fans have started to put together some theories in regards to a flooding of the map, and wondering if that is whyFortnite’s Season 1 of Chapter 2 was extended. Recently there has been a King Midas skin that has been leaked, a character that isn’t yet available to purchase in the store. Of course, King Midas is known for having the ability to touch anything and turn it into gold. This coincides with the fact that there have been gold items popping up around the world ofFortniterecently that are unbreakable. Midas was of greek mythology, so fans are wondering if there could be a link to Poseidon, a Greek God who controls the sea and would have the ability to flood the map, along with the potential for other Greek mythological characters to have an impact in the next season.

Another interesting find is Biblical in nature. On the outskirts of Holly Hodges players have noticed that a sky-view look of a pathway, some shrubbery, and a house spells out the word “Noah”, as in perhaps Noah’s Ark. Again this could point to the map being flooded, or it could be totally coincidental.

Regardless of whether the map is being flooded or not, aFortnitemap evolutionis most likely on the way for Chapter 2 Season 2 when it arrives on July 10, 2025.

Fortniteis available now for Mobile, PC, PS4, Switch, and Xbox One.
