The most notable part ofMonster Hunter Wilds' reveal trailerwas the monster that the lead character was riding throughout. With a lizard-like body and feathery plumage, it was one of the more eye-catching aspects of the trailer. From the looks of things, it seems to be the player’s companions, similar to the Palicoes and Palamutes from past games. This creature’s reptilian and avian aspects, as well as the abilities it showed in the trailer, are set to make it a more unique addition, though. It should be interesting to see what role this new creature will play inMonster Hunter Wildsas a whole.

It was a dynamic that hadn’t been used for any previous Legendary in the series, and it proved to be highly effective. Koraidon and Miraidon ended up being two of the most memorable and likable box Legendaries that thePokemonseries has seen in generations, largely due to this gimmick.
It remains to be seen how similarMonster Hunter Wilds' new companion will be. After all,Pokemon Scarlet and Violet’s storiesfeatured their respective Legendaries in a prominent role. SinceMonster Hunter Wildswas only just announced, there’s no indication at all of what direction its story could go. However, if the ridable monster is as prominent in the game as it was in the trailer, it’s easy to picture it being involved somehow. Plus, it’s nice to see a companion monster that isn’t in the same vein as past examples. Whatever its role ends up being, there’s good reason to expect something interesting.
