Cards Against Humanityreveals an expansion themed aroundMass Effectto mark the release ofMass Effect: Andromeda, with the card pack available for order now.
With the release ofMass Effect: Andromedajust around the corner, many gamers are already gearing up to step back into the beloved BioWare universe. However, it’s not just through the game itself that fans of the series will be able to enjoy some brand newMass Effect-themed goodness. Instead, some content from the series is coming from a rather unlikely source:Cards Against Humanity.
As it turns out, BioWare andCards Against Humanityhave teamed up to create aMass EffectPack for the card game, close to the release ofMass Effect: Andromeda. The pack itself is made up of 14 new cards for the game, and is available right now over atMassEffectPack.com, as well as at a slightly less safe-for-work address. The expansion costs $1, and US orders will be available with free shipping.
Gamers planning to pick up the pack will no doubt have to brace themselves for the acerbic humor ofCards Against Humanity, and the 14 cards seem likely to focus on the more adult side of theMass Effectseries. Trin Garritano, director of events over atCards Against Humanity, stated toPolygonthat it was actually BioWare pushing things in this direction. “We had to push through a few non-sex cards just to widen the appeal of the deck,” said Garritano. “It was an incredible problem to have and I am still absolutely tickled by this.”
The pack is unlikely to reveal any new details aboutMass Effect: Andromeda, though. “We thought if we wrote a pack with BioWare, they would let us play the newMass Effectgame early. That did not happen, but here we are anyway,” reads the expansion pack’s website. The pack is no doubt full of fun content for fans of the series though, even though Cards Against Humanity pokes fun atcomplaints over theMass Effect 3ending(just check out the FAQ page).
Although this is the first time thatCards Against Humanityhas directly teamed up with a video game intellectual property, it’s not the first time that the card game has dabbled in external franchises. AHouse of Cardsexpansion has also been released, although the pack itself sold out within 24 hours last time. With that in mind,Mass Effectfans after this pack may have to move quickly to get hold of it.
It’s not just this pack that’s showing offMass Effectrecently, though. BioWare has been ramping up news about the latest title in the series, as shown by the recentMass Effect: Andromedaweapon and skill video, while the game could even bebigger thanMass Effect 3. Hopefully, the game will prove to be even better than its predecessors.
Mass Effect: Andromedawill be released on July 20, 2025 on PC, Xbox One, and PS4. TheMass Effectpack forCards Against Humanityis available to order now.
