The opening sequence of 2007’sMass Effectis an almost obvious Easter egg forTop Gun, though one easily missed if they are not side by side, anddirector Casey Hudsonhas expressed his excitement at this discovery. In his words, “Finally someone noticed this! I’ve been waiting so long…“Casey Hudson may no longer be at BioWare, but his influence there could be felt when he was. During his time there, he served as director of the entireMass Effect TrilogyandStar Wars: KOTOR,while also taking over as a general manager for some time. He’s currently the CEO of Humanoid Studios, working on a multiplatform AAA game set in an all-new science fiction universe. Details are scarce aboutHumanoid Studios' Sci-Fi game, but with Hudson at the helm, many are no doubt excited.RELATED:All of the Dragon Age Easter Eggs in Mass EffectTwitter user Snizabelle recently shared an image of theMass EffectandTop Gunopenings side by side, and they are remarkably similar. The font is different, but the structures of each paragraph/sentence, the introduction of the logo, the initial introductory clause, and more make them seem alike. Now, some may have realized this but wrote it off as something unintentional, yet Hudson’s reaction to it, as seen below, proves that it was very much intentional—even if it has gone largely unnoticed.

Some responses to Hudson’s QT and Snizabelle’s tweet claim they already knew this, which is certainly possible, and there is a Reddit thread or two shared about it. It wouldn’t be the first time a handful of people realized an Easter egg for many others to miss it, of course, and Hudson’s reaction to the discovery itself is worthwhile enough. Meanwhile, others were quick to acknowledge they never knew this or, in internet language, were “today years old” when they found out. However one comes about it, like Hudson with this recent post, it’s a neatMass EffectEaster egg.

SomeEaster eggs take years to find, and whether fans realized now or a few years ago, that’s mostly the case here. This Easter egg has not fully circulated around to fans of the game, clearly based on those who didn’t know about it, but that simply speaks to how well done the Easter egg was. Some are made to be found, others are simply made and left to be found, and thisTop GunEaster egg finds itself in the latter scenario, it would seem.
