While many details surroundingMarvel Studios' upcomingSecret Invasionseries are kept under wraps, the growing list of cast members has fans intrigued as to what is cooking up. Now, it appears that the cast is bigger than most people thought, as Samuel L. Jackson has revealed that Martin Freeman’s Everett K. Ross will make an appearance in the show.

Freeman first tapped into hisMarvelrole in 2016’sCaptain America: Civil War, playing a member of the CIA’s Joint Counter Terrorism Center and a character who is associated with other heroes such as Black Panther. He would then return in 2018’sBlack Panther, where he helps T’Challa, Nakia, Shuri, and the Dora Milaje in stopping Killmonger and his army from distributing shipments of Wakandan weapons to operatives around the globe.

During a recent on-stage talk titledSamuel L. Jackson In Conversation With Josh Horowitzin New York City, Jackson praised his fellowSecret Invasioncast members likeMCU newcomers Emilia Clarkeand Olivia Colman. At one point, Jackson also adds Freeman’s name to the list, letting it slip that he will indeed be reprising the role as agent Ross in the series. Until now, Freeman’s involvement had not been confirmed by anyone involved withSecret Invasion.

While Freeman was already confirmed to star in the highly anticipated sequelBlack Panther: Wakanda Forever(which is set for a November 2022 release), and since his name was not confirmed to be a part theSecret Invasioncast, it will be interesting to see how big of a role he plays in the series. But given how the show will feature plenty of political elements, asDon Cheadle’s James Rhodeshas also been confirmed to have some government interaction in the series, at least offscreen, it makes sense for Ross to be included in all of it as well.

But with returning characters like Rhodes and Ross, and even with the new additions, there’s no telling who is a Skrull or not, since the show will follow Nick Fury as he reunites with the friendly intergalactic Skrull Talos to help take down other rogue Skrulls who have infiltrated Earth and have taken great positions of power. But as filming continues in the U.K., fans can expect more details to surface online in the coming weeks.

Created byMr. Robot’s Kyle Bradstreet, the series also stars Ben Mendelsohn as Talos,Kingsley Ben-Adir as the main villain, and Killian Scott and Christopher McDonald in undisclosed roles. The series will likely tie into other projects likeMs. MarvelorThe Marvels.

Secret Invasionis expected to premiere on Disney Plus in late 2022.
