While all of the emotions are brilliant and fascinating in the hit 2015 Pixar movieInside Out, Mindy Kaling voiced the role of Disgust with flawless comedic timing and ease. Disgust has some of the most hilarious quotes from the entire movie, saying “The grape touched the ground. It’s poisoned” and “On a scale of 1 to 10, I give this day an F.” Disgust is never far from Riley’s (Kaitlyn Dias) mind as she moves to a new city and has a lot of thoughts about everything from her new home to what food she doesn’t want to eat.
Bill Hader and Mindy Kaling won’t be in the sequel as Fear and Disgust, but what if the role of Disgust is recast? There are a few actors who would be perfect for the part.

Maya Rudolph
Inside Out 2has a smart ideaas the film will focus on Riley as a teenager. That suggests that she will be more grossed out and upset than ever before, as high school students definitely have some strong opinions. Maya Rudolph’s beloved comedic talents would be a perfect fit for the role of Disgust.
Rudolph has starred in many movies and TV shows and proved that she can handle hilarious roles with ease. Rudolph was incredible in the moving yet humorous filmAway We Go(2009), beloved inBridesmaids(2011), and also played quirky and silly Judge Jen onThe Good Place, which aired from 2016 to 2020. Because Rudolph has gone all out and played some goofy roles, she would work as Disgust.
Josie Totah
While theSaved By The Bellreboot was cancelledafter two seasons airing in 2020 and 2021, the show brought to life vibrant and fascinating teenage characters who have relatable problems. Josie Totah is one of the best actors from the sitcom, playing Lexi Haddad-DeFabrizio, a transgender character who has been famous thanks to her time on reality TV.
Totah is perfect as Lexi, who is smart, fun and bubbly but also serious and aware of important issues in the world. Lexi is just as enthusiastic as Disgust is, and Totah would be a great choice. Totah also played the role of CJ in the 2021 filmMoxie.
Abigail Breslin
Ever since Abigail Breslin’s role as Olive in the 2006 comedyLittle Miss Sunshine, the actor has impressed audiences with dramatic and humorous roles, and she could definitely play Disgust.
Breslin was awesome as Chanel #5 inScream Queens, the solid Ryan Murphy horror comedythat aired from 2015 to 2016. While Emma Roberts’s main character Chanel Oberlin is fabulously brutal and fashionable, Breslin plays Chanel #5’s insecurity and desire to fit in perfectly. Breslin can take on a range of roles and played Veronica in the 2015 action filmFinal Girl, and it would be fun to see in a silly yet sweet role.
Selena Gomez
Selena Gomez’s best TV and movie rolesinclude Mabel Mora in the fantastic Hulu seriesOnly Murders In The Building. Gomez rose to fame for portraying Alex Russo on the Disney seriesWizards of Waverly Place, which aired for four seasons from 2007 to 2012, and Mabel gives Gomez the opportunity to take on a dramatic and hilarious part, all at the same time. Gomez’s chemistry with Steve Martin as Charles-Haden Savage and Martin Short as Oliver Putnam is also impressive.
Only Murders In The Buildinghas a great season 2and Gomez is an important part of that, as she plays Mabel with the exact right amount of seriousness and courage. It would be great to hear Gomez as Disgust as Mabel definitely gets frustrated on a regular basis and Gomez plays this emotional yet funny part flawlessly.
Yara Shahidi
Yara Shahidi is another talented actor who could voice Disgust inInside Out 2. Shahidi is known for starring onBlack-ish(2014-2022) as Zoey Johnson and the spin-offGrown-ish, which began airing in 2018.Black-ishis one of thebest sitcoms on Huluand Zoey is a relatable character who loves her family but wants to be out on her own.Grown-ishis also one of the most interesting portrayals of college life as it delves into the tough emotions.
There are manyanimated sequels better than the originaland there are high hopes forInside Out 2. Zoey has great comedic timing as she navigates the big changes going on in her life, and Shahidi would be great in theInside Outsequel.
While no one is sure if Disgust and Fear will return with different actors or if there would be new emotions added toInside Out 2, any of these five actors would do a fantastic job if given the role.
