InElden Ring: Shadow of the Erdtree,Black Steel Greathammer is a new weapon of the Great Hammer weapon type. It weighs a hefty 12.0 and deals140 Physicaldamage in normal attacks. For guard counters, it deals42 Holydamage. Atmax upgrade, the normal attacks deal343 Physical damagewhile the guard counter deals102 Holy. This weapon is great for doing a guard counter build, letting players stagger their enemies in just a few swings.
The main downside is that the Black Steel Greathammer has a much shorter reach compared to many of its compatriots in the Great Hammer category, though its high stagger ability makes the trade-off worth the hassle. The Black Steel Greathammer can be upgraded usingSmithing Stones to +25and can benefit from spell-based or consumable weapon buffs.

Black Steel Greathammer Weapon Skill: Endure
The Black Steel Greathammer Ash of War isAsh of War: Endure, which cannot be changed. It’s an old ash of war, but it fits the playstyle of this weapon quite well. The main goal of the player when using this weapon should be to do as many guard counters as possible to maximize poise damage. Since Endurereduces damage taken and increases the player’s poise stat, it’s great when the player is using a shield to block attacks.
This weapon skillcosts 9 FPto cast and cannot be chained into a follow-up attack.
Assume an anchored stance to brace for incoming attacks, briefly boosting poise. Damage taken while using this skill is reduced.
Where To Find Black Steel Greathammer Location
Toget the Black Steel Greathammer inShadow of the Erdtree, you must go to the Church of Consolation and defeatthe Black Knight guarding the location. From the Scorched Ruins site of grace, players need to follow the road leading south, going through the ruins, to reach the Church of Consolation.
There are a couple of Messmer Soldiers surrounding the Church that players can kill or sneak past. Some are inside the Church as well but won’t wake up until they’re hit or hear a warning call. Inside the Church, the players need to battle and defeat a Black Knight. He only has a few moves in his arsenal, so players should be able to kill him after getting familiar with his moveset.
Additionally, if you’re having trouble killing him, you can summon spirits to help you win the fight in the Church. Once defeated, the enemy will drop the Black Steel Greathammer and won’t respawn afterward. Players can farm other Black Knights toget the Black Steel Greatshieldor theBlack Steel Twinblade.
