While exploring the post-apocalyptic American landscape inHorizon: Forbidden West, one player encounters a very unlucky Lancehorn. The robotic antelope are scarcely found within the open world ofHorizon: Forbidden West, but they can be a nuisance for Aloy if players get too close.
Along with the announcementthe nextHorizongame is currently being developed, Guerrilla Games recently released the long-awaitedHorizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLC. Players are busy exploring the remains of the Californian coastline in the expansion to Aloy’s story and are discovering that the animals found within the game can cause humorous moments if the timing is right.

One gamer going by Blade_of_Kyrie on Reddit has posted their experience with an extremely unlucky Lancehorn. The short clip starts with the player circling the creature but before Aloy gets the chance to attack, a large Stormbird manages to land on top of the hapless creature, resulting in a rather large explosion before the bird takes flight. If the encounter wasn’t enough for the creature, Blade_of_Kyrie proceeds to quickly loot the downed animal much to the amusement of folks in the comment section.
The encounter was certainly a case of the Lancehorn being in the wrong place at the wrong time, but it isn’t the only video of animal encounters going awry inHorizon: Forbidden West. One player managed tocapture a Slaughterspine doing a backflipas it was being hunted. The mechanical beast met its end in a dramatic fashion, much to the surprise of the community.
Even with the funny nature of these clips, Guerrilla Games has come under fire from a small section of fans pertaining to the recently released DLC. TheHorizon Forbidden West: Burning Shores DLCis currently being review bombed on Metacriticdue to players having the option of romantically linking Aloy to her female companion, Seyka. This prompted Metacritic to release a statement saying they are aware of the situation and are looking to improve the site’s moderation on the matter.
Although it will be a while until folks see Aloy return for another grand adventure in the world of Horizon, fans can be assured that the future of the post-apocalyptic RPG is safe. With the Burning Shores DLC introducing a more in-depth companion system, and footage of an earlyalpha build of aHorizon: Forbidden Westmultiplayer modebeing leaked, people are already excited about what the future holds for the growing franchise.
Horizon Forbidden Westis available on PS4 and PS5.
