Haven, even among indie games, has been featured prominently during this summer’s digital game showcases. One of those events was thePlayStation Indies showcase, where it was confirmed thatHavenwould be coming to PS5. In a more recent interview,Havendevelopers The Game Bakers expanded on what its plans were on the next-generation hardware. Specifically, The Game Bakers dedicated itself to working towards a silky smooth 120 FPS on PS5.
Speaking with WCCFTech,Havencreative director Emeric Thoa spoke about the team at The Game Bakers starting work on the PS5. He first acknowledged that the team is only at the beginning stages of gettingHavento run on PS5. That said, Thoa says that the team is dedicating itself to making “the best use” of thePS5’s new hardware.

Specifically, Thoa describes that he’s most excited about two specific things on the PS5. First, he’s interested in thePS5’s DualSense controllerfeature providing haptic feedback. Second, he states interest in providing a 120 FPS framerate forHaven"to make gliding as smooth as possible."
Havenis an RPGfeaturing two characters who escaped to a deserted planet in order to be together. Thoa describes howHavenisn’t intended to be a “tech benchmark game,” though it does feature a gorgeous visual design. Instead of pushing cutting edge graphics, The Game Bakers is going for a more streamlined and relaxing experience. That’s largely why 120 FPS for the RPG isn’t outside the bounds of reality.
Even with limited performance requirements, however,120 FPSisn’t easy to achieve. It goes without saying that it’d take some powerful hardware to achieve that. Thoa believes the PS5 delivers that kind of power, though. When asked how the PS5 and a high-end computer differ, Thoa says he guesses that “the difference is going to be thin.
The Game Bakers may not actually reach 120 FPS on PS5, of course. And even if it did, it wouldn’t be a particularly popular feature for PS5 gamers. Televisions with a 120hz refresh rate are incredibly rare and expensive, too. It would still be a stunning technical achievement and for the minority of PS5 gamers onhigh refresh rate monitorsand TVs it would look absolutely gorgeous.
