A recent leak fromGenshin Impacthas given an update on a pair of map expansions set to come to the game during the Fontaine cycle. Since the launch of the Sumeru region in Version 3.0, the playable world of Teyvat has grown substantially with the newest region’s rainforest and three separate desert sections added. The explorable area is set to become even larger soon enough with the game’sfifth major region of Fontaineexpected for later this summer. Now, new leaks are teasing expansions to the game’s pre-existing regions.

WhileGenshin Impact’s first region has not seen a new map expansion since Version 1.2 added Dragonspine, rumors have swirled around a new location within the Anemo Archon’s domain. Leaks have heavily suggestedGenshin Impactwill add Dornman Port, north of the city of Mondstadt, in a future update as well as the mysterious Dandelion Sea. Liyue has also seen rumors about a new area with Qiaoying Village reportedly located in the region’s northwestern corner. A recent leak gives an update on the speculated Mondstadt expansion, as well as another entirely new location.

A new update shared by prominentGenshin Impactleaker Tao via leaker group Team China has revealedmore details about the upcoming Mondstadt expansion, as well as a new Sumeru location. The post reveals that the Mondstadt expansion has reportedly been delayed from its initial Version 4.3 release window. Previous leaks have claimed that the Mondstadt expansion will not be as big as other map additions, but the new region will borderTeyvat’s northernmost region of Snezhnaya. Based on current trends, Snezhnaya is not expected to be introduced toGenshin Impactuntil 2025.

While the Mondstadt expansion has apparently been delayed, the post would also reveala new location coming to Sumeruduring the Fontaine cycle. The area is revealed to be a port town with a direct connection to Fontaine, suggesting the village would be on Sumeru’s northern end. Fans have speculated that the expansion could potentially come through a currently inaccessible region of the map between Sumeru and Liyue. The leak also reveals names for some locations within Fontaine, including “Castle of Tear Water” and “Referee Island” among others.

While Fontaine’s introduction is set to arrive in August, many fans have already begun to speculate about hints for the regions following the aquatic locale. OneGenshin Impactfan discovereda mysterious tunnel in Sumeruthat could potentially serve as an entrance to the game’s expected sixth region, Natlan. Art for the Russian Maslenitsa Festival earlier this year also showcased one of the first official depictions of a location within Snezhnaya.Genshin Impact’s map looks set to expand in more ways than expected throughout the Fontaine cycle.
