For the past few weeks, Bethesda has been hosting its Beta (Break-It Early Test Application) time slots ahead of the launch ofFallout76. With the testing period officially over before servers go live in the next few days, some players are running into issues when trying to remove the game from their systems ahead of launch.
According to a report onVG24/7,PC players have been running into a problem with not being able to uninstallFallout 76from their hard drives. The issue seems to be occurring for a number of people, as posts from both reddit and the Bethesda forums confirms the issue is not an isolated one. Any PC player trying to uninstall the game will be prompted to login to the Bethesda.net Launcher, where they’ll eventually be given a message stating “You do not have access to this game.” Access to the Beta was reserved for who pre-ordered the game, so those who may have received a code from someone else are the ones most likely to run into this problem.

There is speculation of the reasoning for not being allowed to remove the game is because the online servers are not live at the moment, and that onceFallout 76launches in a couple of days, players shouldn’t have any issues uninstalling it. It would appear to be a risky endeavor to delete everything though, as all character progress from the Betawill carry over to the full game, so a chance of losing everything from the Beta doesn’t seem to be worth the risk.
The Beta forFallout 76wasn’t without its share of issues, thoughour early preview left us impressed. A number of players had reported during the Beta time period of a bug causing the entire game to be deleted, while the litany of bug fixes and typicalFalloutissues on the technical front have led to the game receiving a massive day-one patch when it releases.
Fallout 76was revealed this past Spring, and sees Bethesda taking a different approach with theFalloutproperty by pulling away from its traditional single-player in return for an online, open-world survival RPG. While the company has confirmed this doesn’t mark the permanent future of the franchise, Bethesda VP of Marketing Pete Hines has stated thatFallout 76will receive continued support and updatesfor quite some time.
Fallout 76launches on November 14th for PC, PlayStation 4, and Xbox One.
