What Is Nirvana?

A relic of times bygone, Nirvana is an ancient magic item created 400 years ago in a bid to quell the chaos and destruction plaguing the world. With the power to convert light into darkness and evil into good, Nirvana served as the ultimate tool to put an end to the ravaging wars. The item boasts the ability to switch moral alignments of those affected by its power. However, this power can only be afflicted to those that are distraught and overwhelmed by asurge of negative emotions.

The Nirvits created Nirvana based on the principle of balance, meaning for light to turn into darkness, an equal amount of darkness must convert to light. Even if Nirvana is able to switch people from evil to righteous, darkness will eventually overcome others to balance the change. These complex workings of Nirvana are exactly what deem it a threat to mankind, as its power of moral-realignment can be abused to pinguilds against each other, resulting in utter chaos.

Who Created Nirvana?

Nirvana was the result of an ancient tribe’s resolve to usher in a new era of peace. The Nirvits were a peaceful tribe that wanted to end the ruthless wars that had taken over the world, and their ambitious resolve resulted in the creation of Nirvana. Nirvana’s Magic of Reversal was able to stop the ravaging wars by realigning the belligerents into morally-pure people.

By soaking up the darkness and malignancy from the hearts of people, Nirvana’s power disturbed the balance and was forced to redirect the hatred and evil to another source. Unfortunately, the Nirvits residing on Nirvana’s physical structure became victim to its reversal magic. The darkness caused the once-peaceful Nirvits to go against each other, senselessly slaughtering their very ownkin.

Nirvana’s Stages

Roubaul, the actual creator of Nirvana, was the sole survivor of the massacre. Overwhelmed with guilt and remorse, Roubaul swore to atone for his sins by looking after Nirvana, long after his physical body gave in. His spiritual presence was bound to the site, as he could only rest after someone strong enough could undo his dark misdeed.

The Stages of Nirvana

While Nirvana’s process of realigning morality may seem rather simple, its actual complexities lie in its several stages. In its initial stage, Nirvana emits a black beam of magic towards the sky, and anyone distraught and wavered by their sentiments can be caught by Nirvana’s reversal magic. Negative emotions can bring those with righteous values towards darkness, and inner-conflicts can switch those that bear corrupted beliefs.

In the next stage, Nirvana is controlled through its helm, allowing the structure to stand upward on its spider-like legs. The only way to stop its advance is to destroy six lacrima attached at the top of each leg.Since the alliance destroyedall six lacrima and stopped Nirvana in its tracks, the final stage was never witnessed. From its previous descriptions, however, it can be gauged that the final stage results in a complete realignment of morality for those caught in its magical powers.

Nirvana’s Victims

Even after 400 years of its invention, Nirvana was still capable of afflicting people with its reversal magic. During its initial stage, Sherry Blendy briefly turned evil afterwitnessing Lyon’s supposed death. After realizing he was alive and well, Sherry’s distraught emotions simmered down, weakening Nirvana’s grip on her. This indicates that resolving negative emotions can negate its effects.

Hoteye, one of the members of the Oracion Seis, was also entranced by Nirvana’s powers. The sight of Jura’s bald head reminded him of the good times he had with his brother, reverting him back to his pure self. Unlike Sherry, Hoteye remained righteous despite Nirvana’s destruction. This could be attributed to the fact that Hoteye was never inherently evil, since he onlyjoined the Oracion Seisafter his traumatic experience in the Tower of Heaven.
