One of the most precious commodities in all ofElden Ringare the runes that players get from killing enemies. TheseElden Ringrunes are used to improve one’s stats and level up, integral to surviving the game’s tougher encounters. There are many legitimate ways to farm forElden Ringrunes, but some players have started to do things like AFK rune farming so they don’t have to actually play the game to get runes.
A common way to do this is forElden Ringplayers to hide in a hard-to-reach spot, wait for invaders to come to their game, and then collect the runes after the invader gets frustrated and leaves and/or falls to their death. ManyElden RingAFK rune farmers use this method, but it doesn’t always work in their favor.Elden Ringplayershave figured out where the popular AFK rune farming hiding spots are and have been taking out rune farmers with relative ease.

A recent viral clip on Reddit by user Xeraith shows anElden RingAFK rune farmer get instant karma. In the clip, Xeraith issummoned to another player’sElden Ringworld as a hunter, whose goal is normally to help the host player and protect them from an invader. Xeraith realizes that the host is hiding in an AFK rune farming spot, and goes to drop a Frenzyflame Stone at their feet.
TheElden RingAFK rune farmer starts running around wildly, and then turns their attention to Xeraith. Perhaps not realizing Xeraith was a hunter sent to help them as opposed to anElden Ringinvadertrying to kill them, the AFK rune farmer swings their sword repeatedly. The momentum from the sword swings ultimately send the rune farmer falling off a cliff and to their death, just seconds after the real invader entered their world.
AFK rune farming inElden Ringis controversial in the community for obvious reasons, first and foremost being that it can ruin the PvP experience for players. While being able to get a bunch ofElden Ringrunes without even playing the game is what some players seemingly want to do, it should be noted that there are plenty ofElden Ringrune farming tricks that players can do to boost their supply without having to resort to AFK farming.
In fact, one of thebestElden Ringrune farming trickscan get players a staggering 5 million runes in an hour, and it still works, even after the latest updates.
Elden Ringis out now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X.
