Disney announces plans to continue supportingDisney Infinity 3.0throughout 2016, with the addition of four new Play Sets based on Marvel,Star Wars, and more.

Instead of churning out a newDisney Infinitygame every year, like Activision does with its similar toys-to-lifeSkylandersfranchise, Disney has announced plans to continue support forDisney Infinity 3.0throughout the rest of 2016. This will be accomplished with a slew of new standalone figures, and four new Play Sets based on Disney, Marvel, Pixar, andStar Warsproperties.

First on deck is theMarvel BattlegroundsPlay Set. This Play Set will introduce 4-player co-op toDisney Infinity 3.0, and seems to be taking some inspiration from the upcoming filmCaptain America: Civil War, with characters donning costumes similar to the ones that they will be wearing in the movie.

TheMarvel BattlegroundsPlay Set will also introduce three new Marvel characters to the mix in the form of Ant-Man, Black Panther, and Vision. Furthermore, Black SuitSpider-Man, previously only available as a bundle with the PlayStation Vita version ofDisney Infinity 2.0, will now be sold as a standalone figure.

As stated previously, Disney plans on rolling out four new Play Sets forDisney Infinity 3.0this year, soMarvel Battlegroundscertainly isn’t the only thing fans can look forward to. Details on the other three Play Sets are not yet available, but one has to imagine that the upcomingStar WarsPlay Setwill likely be inspired by the upcoming filmRogue One: A Star Wars Story. The planned Pixar Play Set could be just about anything, but may take its cues fromFinding Dory.

As for the “Disney” Play Set, that is truly anyone’s guess. Disney has an exhausting number of intellectual properties at its disposal that it can draw from for new figures and Play Sets to add toDisney Infinity 3.0. Having said that, we do know that standalone characters from the upcoming filmZootopiaare now being sold nationwide, so the Play Set will probably be based on a different Disney property.

Another Disney property that is probably safe to rule out for the Play Set is one based onThe Jungle Book. This is because the character Baloo from the film will be added toDisney Infinity 3.0as a standalone figure, meaning that Disney will probably focus its attention on something different, despite the upcomingJungle Bookreboot film.

Thanks to the success ofDisney Infinity 3.0,Disney Infinitywas the best-selling toys-to-life gamefor the second year in a row, and if Disney continues to support the game this aggressively, it could have a repeat performance in 2016. After all, Activision’sSkylandersfranchise didn’t sell as well last year, which could be a sign that consumers are sick of buying completely new games every year, and would rather just focus on building their collection of figures. Disney is giving fans the chance to do just that with all the new content coming toDisney Infinity 3.0in 2016.

Disney Infinity 3.0is currently available for Apple TV, Android, iOS, PC, PS3, PS4, Wii U, Xbox 360, and Xbox One.
