Summary
Fans of the hack and slash RPGDiablo 4want to play a new class that’s based on one of the game’s enemy types, the Knights Penitent. While the request may seem unusual at first, players have put forward a passionate reason for why they believe this specific enemy type should become a playable class.
Diablo 4, the latest mainline entry in Blizzard Entertainment’s legendary dungeon crawler series, has offered five classes since its release in June: Barbarian, Druid, Necromancer, Rogue, and Sorceress. WhileDiablo 4’s classes are distinct from one another, players have been asking for more classes to be added to the game. Among the most requested classes is a Holy Knight type akin to the Paladin and Crusader classes that were present in previousDiablotitles, and Blizzard Entertainment need not look far fromDiablo 4for inspiration should it decide to add such a class, according to players.

In a recent post on the r/Diablo4 subreddit that featured the photo of a Pale Knight character, Reddit user 2clr talked about their wish for members ofDiablo 4’s Knights Penitent militant faction to be turned into a playable class. The motivation for 2clr’s request seemed superficial as they only described the knights as being “cool,” but many people seemed to agree with this sentiment. One commenter claimed they wanted a character inDiablo 4with armor similar to that used by Knights Penitentbecause it looked “pretty dope.” The commenter also mentioned how their brother enjoyed fighting against the Knights Penitent because the NPC’s attacks were “awesome.”
Fans have repeatedly asked for a Paladin-style class inDiablo 4even before the game was released. Replying to 2clr’s post, one Reddit user theorized that the Necromancer class was originally intended to be a Paladin class but was changed so it could be sold later. The Necromancer and the Barbarian are the only classes inDiablo 4that can use a shield.
Diablo 4’s next class is expected to be the Spiritborn, a Nature-focused glaive user that should release alongside the game’s Vessel of Hatred expansion set to launch in late 2024. With Blizzard Entertainment planning to release a new class with every paid annual expansion, fans could see a Knight-type class or something similar within a few years.
In the meantime,Diablo 4players can spend their time creating personalized builds with the title’s original five classes.Diablo 4’s Rogue is the most powerful in this current Season of Blood, though players can still enjoy the game with any of the other classes.
