Bungie has announced thatDestiny 2will bring back several exotic items from the first game. The news comes as the upcoming expansion in the online multiplayer shooterThe Final Shapewas officially unveiled during the developer’s annualDestiny 2live stream.

The Destiny Showcase confirmedthe release date forThe Final Shapeexpansion, along with the first look at the story which is set to concludeDestiny 2’s Light and Darkness saga. The latest expansion will take Guardians into the heart of the Traveler, the mysterious orb that has been hanging over Earth since the original game. The Final Shape is set to reintroduce a host of characters throughout the franchise as well as some new exotic weapons.

The newTessellation exotic fusion riflewill be the latest add-on to the live service game, and Bungie also confirmed that players will be able to unlock weapons from the originalDestiny. These will be the Dragon’s Breath Exotic Rocket Launcher, the Khvostov Exotic Auto Rifle, and the Red Death. It is currently unknown how each weapon will have changed between the first game andDestiny 2, but players can expect to find out when they are released alongsideThe Final Shapeon June 21, 2025.

Fans were able to catch glimpses of the weapons in the reveal trailer for the expansion and will likely be excited to see these weapons back in the game. Although, this isn’t the first time Bungie has brought back fan-favorite weapons from the originalDestiny. As part of the celebrations for Bungie’s 30th anniversary in 2021,the Gjallarhorn exotic was brought intoDestiny 2much to the excitement of gamers.

While players will have to wait a while to get their hands on these originalDestinyexotics, Season 22 ofDestiny 2is underway. In keeping with the throwback to the first entry in the franchise,Destiny 2will also see the return of the classic Crota’s End raidon September 1. The raid was first introduced in the Dark Below expansion in 2015 and sees Guardians exploring the depths of the Moon to fight off hordes of Thrall enemies and extract some valuable equipment.

Gamers will have more changes to look forward to during the seventh year ofDestiny 2. Also announced in the Destiny Showcase is thatseasons will be replaced with Episodes whenThe Final Shapereleases. Instead of four seasons per year, players can expect three Episodes that will each run for four months and introduce new stories that take place after the events ofThe Final Shapeexpansion. The first Episode will begin during the final week of February 2024.

Destiny 2is available on PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
