Destiny 2players have expressed their disappointment with the rewards obtained from the game’s core playlist activities. The game is centered around obtaining loot by playing different activities and obtaining weapons, armor, and upgrade materials in order to level up, but the community isn’t happy with the loot following the release of the Lightfall DLC.
Destiny 2’s core playlist activities include Vanguard Strikes, Crucible, and Gambit. While players do get pinnacle loot once a week upon completing the weekly challenges in each playlist, several gamers have complained about the loot being underwhelming, and in some cases, non-existent.

Reddit user Snakeeyes1991 posted their experience of playing several Vanguard strikes in a row and getting nothing but glimmer and legendary shards from it. They acknowledged that the loot from a normal strike will be significantly lesser compared to running a higher difficulty Nightfall, but the fact that a core activity doesn’t even drop armor or weapons is what baffled them. Another user also commented that Psi Ops added toDestiny 2’s Vanguard Strikes playlistdo not give out any rewards from the final chest, which sounds like a bug but is still a worrying situation.
It doesn’t stop there as players have also called out the underwhelming rewards received from higher-tier Nightfalls as well. For instance, Reddit user Multirman posted their experience whererunning Legend and Master Nightfalls only gave them enhancement cores, whereas the Hero version of the same gave them no rewards at all. Furthermore, they also complained about the low-stat armor pieces received upon doing a Master dungeon inDestiny 2, which isn’t a core playlist activity, but shows the current state of the reward system in the game.
Players have also shared similar experiences while playing Crucible matches, where many complained about only getting the new Autumn Wind pulse rifle to drop constantly.Gambit players inDestiny 2have similar complaintswhere some even mentioned not getting any loot upon completing a match, which is perplexing considering the gameis primarily a looter shooter MMO.
The biggest problem players have highlighted here is how difficult this makes things for new players considering they will have to play higher-difficulty activities very early on to get desirable loot and rank up.Bungie mentioned its intention to makeDestiny 2harderbefore the launch of Lightfall, but many feel that the difficulty increase, combined with the disappointing loot pool, isn’t an ideal situation. The good news is that Bungie always acts upon player feedback, so this will probably be addressed and fixed soon.
Destiny 2is available now for PC, PS4, PS5, Xbox One, and Xbox Series X/S.
