Full details haven’t even been revealed forDestiny 2yet, and already news is surfacing regarding the game’s DLC. While most has been surface level information, the latest bit of news allegedly reveals the release windows for the game’s 2 planned DLC expansions.
A leaked fact sheet suggests that, much likeDestiny 1,Destiny 2will release its first DLC expansion in the winter of 2017 and a second one in the spring of 2018. What days specifically those add-ons will release is anyone’s guess at this point, but it is safe to assume developer Bungie will follow a similar pattern to its Year 1 release schedule.
For those who might not remember,Destiny 1released in September and was followed up by the Dark Below expansion on December 9th and the House of Wolves expansion on May 19th. Given that, it’s very possible that Bungie is looking at a similar schedule for its first twoDestiny 2DLC expansions, which are included with the game’sExpansion Pass.
Then again, late March and early April have become key windows forDestinyas of late, so that second expansion might release around then. The only hope is that whatever Bungie has planned forDestiny 2’s expansions is more substantial than in Year 1. Although Dark Below did introduce the Crota’s End raid, the sentiment among fans was that the expansions were fairly light on content.
In fact, one of the expansions, House of Wolves, didn’t release with a raid, which left many fans questioning the value of the DLC and their investment in the expansion pass. No doubt players will want to see theseDestiny 2expansions come with raids, but that isn’t always a guarantee. Bungie has created a cadence of content releases that includes themed events, PvP changes, and small quest additions, but raids are few and far between.
As far as what that content could be added toDestiny 2, images of the two DLC expansions have led to speculation one add-on will center around theTrials of Osirisand the other will feature the Warmind Rasputin.
Trials has become a staple of the Destiny experience since it was introduced with the House of Wolves expansion, so it only makes sense that the weekly PvP event continue inDestiny 2. But, there is the hope that the upcoming expansion will do more than just kick off Trials of Osiris. It could be that the DLC stars Brother Vance as a quest giver, or it explores the lore behind Trials.
Of course, this is all assuming that those logos were intentionally attached to the two expansions coming in 2017 and 2018. If not, then futureDestiny 2content is as much of a mystery as thegameplay inDestiny 2right now.
