All good games come to an end, and that includes a bountiful game likeElden Ring. While some players may be done with it now for any number of reasons, beatingElden Ringis also a superb feeling for veterans and newcomers. Both of these groups may be looking to play even more FromSoft games, and that could be where some players have gone with several great choices:Bloodborne,Demon’s Souls Remake(even if the remake is from Bluepoint, it’s still part of the catalog),Sekiro, andDark Souls 1-3.

But all of these games are difficult, as many FromSoft games are. Learning the differences between each is vital to success, and becauseElden Ringis perhaps the most approachable Souls game out there, many may be wandering into games likeDemon’s Souls Remakeunprepared. It should be stated that anyone who wants to play these games can and should anyway they desire—whether that’s farming levels or using magic. In fact, an easy class to recommend for those picking upDemon’s Souls Remake(or waiting for its release on PS Plus Extra)is the Royalty class.
Many have considered it the “easy mode” class ofDemon’s Souls, and while “easy mode” is also a relative term, it’s a strong class for newcomers if they make some smart decisions early on.
Demon’s Souls: Royalty Class, Soul Arrow, and Providential Ring
It should be noted that the Royalty Class is the only Souls level 1 class in the game, but that shouldn’t dissuade players. The class starts with the Soul Arrow spell, as well as a ring that regenerates MP. This is a big boon for players in the early game. After all,Demon’s Soulsplayers cannot level upuntil they beat the first legitimate boss, the Phalanx Demon, and so some players may go a while without increasing their stats.
Soul Arrow, at this point in the game, is capable of one or two-tapping enemies throughout the starting areas. As theirstarting gift inDemon’s Souls, though, players should still take the Providential Ring. This might lock down the players’ rings from the get-go, but this increases discovery and players can get tons of grass (the equivalent toDark Souls’ Estus flasks,Bloodborne’s Blood vials, andElden Ring’s Flask of Crimson Tears) and other items this way. Between the distance and the heals, players should be able to waltz through the first few areas.
Demon’s Souls Royalty Class Should Always Get the Crescent Falchion
Crescent Falchion is one of thebest early weapons inDemon’s Souls, and players can get it as soon as they defeat the Phalanx Demon as well. It does require a small, perhaps frustrating detour, but it’s worth it. It pairs well with any class early in the game, but it can be used long-term by a spellcaster. As seen above, players will need to travel to Island’s Edge in the Shrine of Storms, fight or run through some skeletons, hit the fog wall, immediately take a HARD left, dodge the trap, and fight or run around the enemy beyond that. Behind them, on the cliff ledge, players will see an item and that will be the Crescent Falchion.
WhenDemon’s Soulsmagic users need to resort to melee, the Crescent Falchion should be their early go-to. It can one-shot most common enemies and reduce the HP of other enemies quickly. Players should be aware that they cannot enchant it, as it is already enchanted, but it’ll carry players far. It’s particularly useful againstDemon’s Souls’ Tower Knight, which players will face soon after the Phalanx Demon.
Overall, there are a ton of benefits of takingthe Royalty class inDemon’s Souls, and starting it correctly will help players get to the end ofDemon’s Soulsall the much either. If they’ve beatenElden Ringbut no other FromSoft games, this class will ensure that they add one more notch to their belt from the developer’s catalog.
