Cyberpunk 2077has had many improvements and changes made to it since release.The 2.0 update andPhantom Libertyexpansionhave restructured the game’s skill tree and RPG elements. One of the most significant changes is the way the armor system works. In earlier versions, it was clothing that determined V’s overall defense.After the 2.0 update clothing is now primarily cosmetic.This allows players to customize their character however they want with no concerns about stats. Cyberware
Armor has been shifted over to the Cyberware side of customization. Almost every piece of cyberware will come with an armor value.This will increase the armor meter on the right side of the cyberware screen. Armor has an upper limit of 1500, but players will not need to reach that, especially on the normal difficulty level. Players will want around 500-800 armor to comfortably complete the game. Skeleton and Integumentary system cyberware will have the highest armor values so invest in these areas for more armor.
Technical Ability
Technical Ability is one of the main attributes that V can level up.Investing points into it will give the player +2 armor for every level.Technical Ability is also important as it features perks that allow V toequip more cyberware implantsby raising the cyberware capacity limit.
License to Chrome Perk
The License to Chrome perk can be unlocked after the player has 15 Technical Ability.This perk has three separate levels.The second level gives the player +40 armor and the third level adds another skeleton cyberware slot.Players wanting to heavily increase their defenses should get this perk as quickly as they can.
Engineer Skill
There are also several skills that level up as players use the correct abilities and tech throughout the game.The Engineer skill will riseas players use tech weapons and cyberware arm weapons to dispatch enemies.At level 5 engineering players get +15 armor and then +25 at level 25.
Armored Clothing
Some pieces of clothing do act as armor.These will usually be tactical vests found around the expansion in Dogtown.The armor values are minimal with +25 being the most that they will give.
