Surviving inChernobylitetakes more than avoiding the radiation as players defend themselves from a variety of enemies from aliens to NAR Soldiers. Swapping or upgrading armor and weapons reinsures that exploring in the Chernobyl exclusion zone will be less of a headache.

However, players are tosupport and manage the 5 companionsthat can be recruited throughout the story. Each waste lander has their own specific stats and skills that can be improved upon by giving them better equipment. A weapon that best suits the style of the companion is a crucial improvement to make sure they too survive inChernobylite.
Mayhem Of Mikhail
Mikhail is a man with quite a lot of character to him. He’s loud, resourceful and a little on the wild side. Mikhail doesn’t have any skills to teach players that hint towards what weapon may best suit him, as hismain perks focuson increasing the number of materials you can collect from the environment. However, when taking a look at his stats, it is safe to say a shotgun is the best piece of weaponry to place in his hands.
This companion excels in resistance, making him quite durable to collect resources out in the wild without too much of a risk of taking damage. However, his intelligence is in on the lower side, meaning he’s less adept at scavenging for medicines. By equipping him with a shotgun, this further improves Mikhail’s more average skills such as Combat and Artifice and therefore allows this companion to be sent on successful food supply drops across the excursion zone.

Crafting A Shotgun
Shotguns can be crafted at the Electrical Lathe, which can be built inside the base, the materials that are required for this weapon are:
Olga The Ranger
Olga is one of the last companions players will recruit inChernobylite.Shecan be found living inside the Red Forestwith a group of survivors, acting as their leader to survive against the Chernobylite creatures, as well as fending off the torment of NAR Soldiers. Her experience living inside the exclusion zone has not only made her wiser but more adept to surviving in these conditions.

She’s quite the sharpshooter, as she can improve the damage players conduct with Assault Rifles. Getting a railgun into Olga’s hands as soon as possible will arguably make her one of the strongest characters in the game, as it further increases her Combat, Artifice, Perception, and Intelligence. Increasing these skills will make her quite the jack of all trades, but players will best benefit from sending her to medicine or ammunition drops.
Crafting A Railgun
Railguns are crafted at the Molecular Accelerator, which is an endgame weapon crafting bench that can beplaced inside the base. The materials needed for this recipe are:
Ex-Military Oliver
As the first companion players will receive, Oliver is quite the durable character due to his high skills in both Resistance and Combat. This means it is nearly impossible to get Oliver injured at the beginning ofChernobyliteunless he is instructed to go somewhere with a low probability of success. As ex-military and now a full-time mercenary, it is of no surprise that Oliver is better suited for searching for ammunition before he’s even being given a weapon.
Oliver can be left happily with a revolver, which can be easily found atthe beginning of the game. This will further increase his Combat and Perception, and therefore improve the probability of successfully collecting ammunition. Revolvers will also increase Oliver’s intelligence, meaning he can be used to collect medicine early game before recruiting the other companions.

Crafting A Revolver
These weapons are cheap and easy to come by in the excursion zone. If players wish to make one quickly, it can be crafted on the Electrical Lathe with:
Street Kid Sashko
Free running his way across buildings, daring to do what others would not think, Sashko has an explosive personality and the explosives to go with it if players have completed his side missions. As a younger man, he grew up within gangs, which changed his outlook on the world but also taught him to be quick and nimble if he wished to survive. He brought those skills with him when he decided to take his chances in the Chernobyl exclusion zone.

Sashko is arguably one of the more morally ambiguous companions players will recruit, and his expertise in shotguns means he can increase the damage players do when using them. Although he has high stats in Artifice and Perception, Sashko lacks in combat and resistance, which are both crucial skills in increasing the probability of success and safety. Although weapons can’t increase resistance, shotguns are valuable for its increase in the Combat stat. Byupgrading the shotgun, this can become an even more valuable weapon to him.
Tarakan The Rat-Catcher
Amysterious man lives in the excursion zone, claiming to be on a mission to stop a force that nobody can see. Players will bump into Tarakan a few times before recruiting him on to the team, as he will occasionally call upon the player’s aid.
Similar to Olga, Tarakan also excels at using the railgun when out scavenging, especially due to his high stats in Artifice and Intelligence. This makes the rat-catcher another viable option for collecting medicine drops while allowing other companions to focus on other resources such as rations or ammunition. Early game, players may instead give Tarakan an AK47 with a long barrel or reducer, as this will also increase his combat stat, which without a weapon is incredibly low.
