After many years,Cyberpunk 2077is finally out and people are playing it. Players clearly couldn’t wait to try it out, asCyberpunk 2077hit 1 million concurrent playersquickly.
However, players didn’t get everything they wanted fromCyberpunk 2077. While the game has received good reviews, there are problems all over the place. These include gameplay systems like crafting and the economy that are poorly balanced, approaches to race and gender that need their own discussions, and a lot of bugs and glitches. It seems like these problems might impact the game’s dev negatively, as CD Projekt Red’s stock has fallen since release.

CD Projekt Red’s stock has not plummeted to disastrous levels, but the decrease is notable. On December 4, CD Projekt Red’s stock price stood at PLN (Polish złoty) 443, rather fitting for one of the biggest game developers in Europe. As of this article, that has dropped to PLN 313.9.
It is worth mentioning that the all-time high for CD Projekt Red’s stock came in August, at PLN 460.8. This was the debut of the second Night City Wire, CD Projekt Red’s stream that detailedCyberpunk 2077’s different Lifepath backstories and a tactile, visceral weapons preview. Promise forCyberpunk 2077seemed endless at the time, but the game’s release has not met the admittedly impossible hype levels. Even beyond the bugs mentioned, peopleencountered many things good and bad inCyberpunk 2077, and the bad seems to have been enough to tarnish the conversation about the game. Or at least enough for some CD Projekt Red shareholders to lose faith.
At this early stage, it’s difficult to gauge satisfaction vs. dissatisfaction withCyberpunk 2077on a wide level. There are many things to like about the game, from its combat and character interactions to itsimpressive character creator. The bugs have also been smoothed out to a pleasantly large degree byCyberpunk 2077’s day one patch.
However, none of these change the fact that some systems are distressingly unbalanced, or the fact that many feel the game possesses a Cyberpunk facade, but fails to take full advantage of its own genre. For such players, there is currently aCyberpunk games bundle to check outcreated in response toCyberpunk 2077’s shortcomings. Similarly, few have forgotten the crunch that CD Projekt Red perpetrated on its workers, or the numerous delays ofCyberpunk 2077. Some players no doubt feel the final product is not worth it. Only time will tell how big an impactCyberpunk 2077’s release will have on its lifecycle and on CD Projekt Red’s future.
Cyberpunk 2077releases December 10 for PC, PS4, Stadia, and Xbox One, with PS5 and Xbox Series X/S versions arriving in 2021.
