TheCall of DutyNext event has now confirmed that the upcoming release ofCall of Duty:Warzone Mobilewill come with a comprehensive cross-progression system, allowing a shared Battle Pass and a variety of other essential features. The official announcement cites a unified technology stack that lets developers effectively combine certain aspects of the broadCODgaming experience into one package.

Though the previous mobile versions ofCall of Dutyweren’t necessarily marketed to the same player base as the mainlineCODtitles were, this doesn’t seem to be the case withWarzone Mobile. Official sources have mentioned sharing social features alongside the Battle Pass as well, like friend lists and chat channels, butMobileis otherwise still going to have its own clearly defined and separate identity.

The upcomingCOD: Warzone Mobileis being co-developed by four different mobile game developers — Activision Shangai, Beenox, Digital Legends, and Solid State Studios — which is what may have caused Activision Blizzard to push for advanced cross-progression functionality this time around. The reveals also confirmed thatVerdansk is coming back inCOD: Mobile, and it’s supposed to be “Verdansk just like [players] remember,” suggesting that it’s a direct copy of the map’s original layout.

Perhaps even more notable is the fact thatWarzone 2’s new Al Mazrah mapwill also make its way intoWarzone Mobilein the future, underlining the games' connected nature. It remains to be seen just how well assets from, say,Modern Warfare 2transfer over to a mobile game, of course. However, Activision has outright stated that unlocking newModern Warfare 2Operators and/or weapons will allow players to use them inWarzoneMobile, for example, suggesting a substantial level of parity between all three aforementioned titles.

Not everything is transferring over toCall of Duty: Warzone Mobilethough. It’s highly unlikely thatWarzone Mobilewill receive its own version ofWarzone 2’s new DMZ game mode, for example. Similarly, the official blog has already clarified that the game will receive its own suite of mobile-specific events, playlist offerings, and unique content that won’t be available on otherCall of Dutyplatforms.

Now that it’s clear that Activision Blizzard is looking to offer way more interconnectedness between its ongoingCall of Dutytitles,Warzone 2’s integration ofModern Warfare 2contentis going to be interesting to see, and doubly so as futureCall of Dutygames continue coming out. An overabundance of content was, perhaps, one of the originalWarzone’s big problems, leading to the game’s huge installation size and other assorted issues, which are hopefully going to be avoided this time around.
